Christ-Honoring Christian Capitalization Rules

There is considerable discussion these days about “Taking back the Culture!” and “Taking back the Land!” Christians on every side are very unhappy with the Anti-Christ, Atheist, Evolutionist, Secularization of Modern Culture but are frustrated by not knowing what to do!

“What can we actually do?” many ask, “By ourselves? IS there anything we can do starting today?”

The answer is YES!

There is MUCH we can do – right NOW, without anyone’s PERMISSION, without anyone’s HELP, without any MONEY, without any PREPARATION - and all we have to do is: “DO IT! NOW!”

What is that important, immediate CHRIST HONOURING activity?

Proper Christian Capitalization pertaining to God and Divinity




CATEGORY ONE: The word 'God' as in Father God:


[1] God v god, and all pronouns pertaining there unto.

[a] Generic Capitalization: If the word 'god' is generic and used of Jupiter, Hades, Pluto, Mohammad, Buddha, Confucius, Allah, Jupiter, or simply religious behaviour, then use lower-case ‘g’.

[b] ***Capitalize 'Allah' if the understanding is simply the Arabic word for God of Abraham, as translated by Christian translator for hundreds of years, and is used by Christians with that context.


[c] Christian Capitalization: If the word 'God' is specific and pertains to or refers to 'The True God' in any aspect, then it is always capitalized, with all pronouns pertaining there unto.

There are no exceptions!


[2] God’s Pronouns

[a] Christian Capitalization: All pronouns pertaining to, referring to, or even alluding to God:

He,

Him,

His;

And first-person as used by Self, such as

Me,

My,

Mine;

And when used by others when addressing directly:

You,

Yours,

Thee,

Thy,

Thine,

Thou;

Our – as in Our Father, Our Maker, etc.,


[3] God’s Article: ‘The’ is always capitalized when pertaining, referring or alluding to God:


[4] Godly v. godly, and all pronouns pertaining, referring or alluding thereto.

[a] Generic Capitalization: If the words god and/or godly are generic and used of a general attitude, whether a person be devoted to Buddha, Confucius, Allah, Jupiter, or simply religious behaviour, then use lower-case ‘g’.

If the words god and/or godly are secific and used of a general attitude, if it be about, devoted to, related to, or inreference to God Almighty, or simply religious behaviour He commands, approves and appreciates, then use upper-case:


EXAMPLE:

Correct: The Apostle Paul was a Godly man, as his behaviour was commanded and approved by God.

Incorrect: The Apostle Paul was a godly man, as his behaviour was NOT about false gods - who are NOT God - but pagan gods.

[b] Christian Capitalization: Likewise ungodly & ungodliness for the general atheist-type person, but unGodly, unGodliness and unGod-like for those not like Jesus Christ, Father God Jehovah, of ‘living-walking in the Spirit’. [See below]

[6] Godliness v. godliness, and all pronouns pertaining, referring or alluding thereto.

[7] unGodliness v. ungodliness, and all pronouns pertaining, referring or alluding thereto.

[8] God-like v. god-like, and all pronouns pertaining, referring or alluding thereto.

[9] unGod-like v. ungod-like, and all pronouns pertaining, referring or alluding thereto.

[10] God’s Modifiers, and all things pertaining, referring or alluding thereto.

[11] God's Adjectives: When describing God, to say the Wise God, the Eternal God, the Merciful God, the Loving God, these descriptive words all should be capitalized.

CATEGORY TEO: The words 'Divine, Deity, Deist, Theist', etc.

[1] The word Divine, and all pronouns pertaining, referring or alluding thereto.
[a] Christian Capitalization: The word Divine, used alone if referring to Father God, Son, Spirit, Trinity, Godhead, etc., or when used with any other word or in reference to Father God, Christ or the Holy Spirit, such as Divine Being, Divine Forgiveness, Divine Reward, Divine Retribution, Divine Judgement, Divine Nature, etc

[b] Likewise Divinely, and all pronouns pertaining, referring or alluding thereto.

[c] Likewise Divinity, and all pronouns pertaining, referring or alluding thereto.


[2] Theist, when pertaining to the true God is always capitalized, and all pronouns pertaining, referring or alluding thereto, but not to mythological constructs like Jupiter & Zeus, Hades, Buddha, Confucius, Mohammad, etc.


[3] Deist when it pertains to God, always capitalized, and all pronouns pertaining, referring or alluding thereto, but not to mythological constructs like Jupiter & Zeus, Hades, Buddha, Confucius, Mohammad, etc.


[4] Deity when pertaining to the true God, should always be capitalized,but not to mythological constructs like Jupiter & Zeus, Hades, Buddha, Confucius, Mohammad, etc.


[5] Trinity, and all pronouns pertaining, referring or alluding thereto, always capitalized.

[a] Christian Capitalization: Trinity is NOT a Scriptural Word – as is rapture, denomination, clergy, laity, – but whereas the words ‘rapture, denomination, etc., have other meanings and refers to other things;

[b] However, Trinity refers ONLY to the Holy Spirit, Father, & Son: thus it is always capitalized.


[6] Godhead, and all pronouns pertaining, referring or alluding thereto, always capitalized.

[a] Christian Capitalization: Godhead is a Scriptural Word referring to the Holy Spirit, Father, and the Son:

[b] Thus Godhead with pronouns and references are always capitalized.

CATEGORY THREE: Various Titles of God

[1] God of Nature & Nature’s God, always capitalized as they pertain to the True God, and all pronouns pertaining, referring or alluding thereto.:


[2] All titles - referring, pertaining, alluding, and/or relating to God – scriptural or otherwise - and all pronouns pertaining, referring or alluding thereto.


[3] Some Scriptural Titles: All-Mighty or Almighty, the Great Healer, the Great Physician, Our Maker, Our Creator, Omnipotent One, Our Provider, Our Sustainer, Our Master, Our Ruler, are always capitalized.


[4] Some Non-Scriptural Titles, most Deist-&-Theist titles as used by Founding Fathers: Providence, Supreme Being, Beneficent One, Benign Father, Great Architect or "Great Engineer" as Thomas Edison called Him;

All-Knowing One, the All-Seeing One, the All-Sufficient One, the Omniscient One, the Omnipresent, the First Scientist, the Great Scientist are also properly capitalized.


[5] Somewhat esoteric titles of Scripture not easily recognized by those not familiar with God’s Word:

Somewhat Esoteric Scriptural Titles: The ‘I AM’, The Eternal, Our Peace, Our Reward, Our Exceeding Great Reward, Our Shield, Our Hope, Our Source; are capitalized.

CATEGORY FOUR: Various Titles of Jesus Christ

[1] Jesus, the Christ, and all pronouns pertaining, referring or alluding thereto, always capitalized.


[2] Christ-like, unChrist-like, Christ-likeness, unChrist-likeness, and all things pertaining, referring or alluding thereto as in Godly, unGodly, etc., [See numbers [5] – [9] All things pertaining to Christ are capitalized.


[3] All titles - referring, pertaining, alluding, and/or relating to Jesus Christ – scriptural or otherwise - and all pronouns pertaining, referring or alluding thereto.


[4] Some Scriptural Titles: Almighty, the Great Healer, the Great Shepherd, Great High Priest, Our Ransom, Our Physician, Our Maker, Our Creator, The Faithful Witness, The Alpha & the Omega, Light of the World, Our redeemer, Our Saviour, Our Messiah, Our Elder Brother, the Son of Man, The Servant of God,

Examples of some Scriptural Names and Titles: The Spirit, The Spirit of God, The Spirit of Christ, The Spirit of Christ, The Spirit of Truth, The Comforter, the Teacher, The Guide, The Advocate, the Paraclete, The Seven Spirits before the Throne;

[2] Even the simple phrase 'The Word' . . . as in John 1.1


[3] Especially The Law, The Torah, The Pentateuch, The Light, The Light unto my Path, The Lamp unto my Feet, The Prophets, The Psalms, The Proverbs, The Gospels, The Epistles, The Revelation,and all such terms referring to God's Inspired Word!


[4] Also terms such as the "Good Book", the "First Book of Science", the "Holy Writ", the "Sacred Scrolls", the "Divine Precepts", etc.

[3] All Scriptural titles: Pastor, Apostle, Prophet, Minister, Evangelist, Preacher, Teacher, Deacon, Elder, Bishop, Reverend, etc.,

[4] All titles specifically related to Scriptural titles Missionary, Chaplain, Chapel, Church, Churches, Christian, Christianity, etc.,

[5] Heaven, Hell, Angel, Spirit-Filled, Full-Gospel, Bible, Eternal Life, etc.,

CATEGORY EIGHT: Various Titles related to God in Culture:

[1] a-Theist should be spelled and capitalized this way - when pertaining to the true God, but not pronouns or things related thereto the people who are non-believers: only to God.

[2]/strong> atheist should be spelled and capitalized this way - when pertaining to false gods and idols.

[3] Agnostic capitalized when in reference to the true God, as it represents a philosophical position in reference to God, the but not pronouns or things related thereto these confused persons: only to God

[4] Christian Capitalization: These words - a-Theists and Agnostics - are capitalized as they pertain to, categorize and identify a person in relationship to their belief in reference to the True God.

CATEGORY NINE: Name related to The 'adversary':

[1] As pertains to the word "satan" - this is NOT the proper name of any being.
[a] The word satan is simply a Hebrew word for "adversary, opponent, one who opposes:"

[2] In Strong's Hebrew Lexicon it is given as follows:

[a] Satan (saw-tawn'); Noun Masculine, Strong #7854 - simply defined as "adversary, one who withstands"

In fact, it is often simply translated as the word 'adversary' and even 'withstand' and is NEVER to be capitalized.


[3] In the Greek, satan is simply a 'transliteration' of the Hebrew 'satawn':

Again in Strong's Greek Lexicon is is given:

[a] Satanas (sat-an-as'); Word Origin: Greek, Noun Masculine, Strong #4567 - and is defined as "adversary (one who opposes another in purpose or act)",

[4] This word applies to anyone who seriously opposes you.

If one wants to "identify" a supernatural spirit being, as he who fell from Heaven and withstood Christ as His Temptation, one should write "The adversary" and by capitalizing the modifying article, one can express the desired meaning.

[5] This previously 'anointed cherub that covereth' has the historic name of Lucifer - not satan, and even this is of disputed origin.


[6] The word 'devil' certainly should never be capitalized as this term, also, is a simple word for "accuser" and "slanderer" and applies to all who falsely accuse.

This Jesus referred to him as "The father of lies!"

Again, the best way is to write The devil, The serpent, The dragon, in reference to 'The evil one!'

Just one thought on the "Christian Capitalisation", you mention about the word "antichrist". I feel that it would be bad grammar to put a capital letter in the middle of the word. Although the word is compiled from two other words it is a word in it own right.

It is the grosses of errors to assume the Left Behind Movies are true about "The Antichrist" as this word in any form is NOT even mentioned in The Revelation! Pure Hollywood Myth!

We, at Cambridge Theological Seminary, will not stand before the Lord Jesus - face to face - seeing the scars He bares . . . and answer that we, didn't believe He was important enough in my life to even honor His Name and Titles with a capital letter!Your argument is is the point!

If showing proper honour to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is NOW considered "bad grammar" . . . then let's 'Change' the grammar make honouring God, His Word and all that pertains to Him: proper!!!!!
