Westboro Baptist Church, Phelps. PROMISES to BURN KORAN since Jones cowards out!
Terry 'Traitor' Jones of Florida calls off his Koran burning even and promises to go to New York City personally to apologize, make an offering to the Ground Zero Mosque - and maybe even join Islam - in turn for his hide: "No retaliation!" However, the Minister "Fearless Fred Phelps" pastor of Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas, has given his word to burn Qurans if Terry "Jonah" Jones of the Dove-Timid Florida Ministry doesn't. 'Terry "who only talks" Jones' has already said he wasn't going to burn the "Sacred Koran" - Fearless Fred - so the World stage is all yours. Fred Waldron Phelps, Sr. - now 81 years of age is the "Lion of is an American pastor who is the founder of the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC), an Independent Baptist church based in Topeka, Kansas. Pastor Phelps and WBC are notorious for anti-gay protests, claiming that most natural disasters and terrorist attacks are God's punishment for a society that tolerates homosexuality. === Phelps: Champion Civil Rights AttorneyPhelps earned a law degree from Washburn University in 1962, and founded the Phelps Chartered law firm in 1964.[citation needed] The first notable cases were related to civil rights. "I systematically brought down the Jim Crow laws of this town," he says. Phelps' daughter was quoted as saying, "We took on the Jim Crow establishment, and Kansas did not take that sitting down. They used to shoot our car windows out, screaming we were nigger lovers." The Phelps law firm made up one-third of the state's federal docket of civil rights cases in those days. Defends African Americans: Phelps took cases on behalf of African American clients alleging racial discrimination by school systems, and a predominantly black American Legion post which had been raided by police, alleging racially based police abuse. Phelps' law firm obtained settlements for some clients. Phelps also sued then-President Ronald Reagan over Reagan's appointment of a U.S. ambassador to the Vatican, alleging this violated separation of church and state. The case was dismissed by the U.S. district court. Phelps' law firm, staffed by himself and family members also represented non-white Kansans in discrimination actions against Kansas Power and Light, Southwestern Bell, and the Topeka City Attorney, and represented two female professors alleging discrimination in Kansas universities. Civil Rights Champion Phelps: Awarded by NAACPIn the 1980s, Phelps received awards from the Greater Kansas City Chapter of Blacks in Government and the Bonner Springs branch of the NAACP, for his work on behalf of black clients. Civil Rights Champion Pastor Phelps and Westboro Baptist Church, - the brave, stalwart Topeka, Kansas church that pickets funerals of American soldiers to spread its message that God is punishing the country for being tolerant of homosexuals - now has vowed to hold a Quran burning since Gainesville's Dove World Outreach Center called its off. "WBC burned the Koran once – and if you sissy brats of Doomed america bully Terry Jones and the Dove World Outreach Center until they change their plans to burn that blasphemous tripe called the Koran, then WBC will burn it (again), to clearly show you some things," the church announced in a news release this week. And Jones in the last day has indicated some reluctance to burn the Muslim holy book. The Canadian Press reported Thursday that in an interview with a Canadian radio station, Jones said the church was considering calling it off. "We are very much in prayer about it. There is the possibility, of course, that we will not do it," Jones was quoted as saying. He told a group of reporters Wednesday that he planned to burn at least one copy of the Quran. Dove World is one of the few groups to join forces with Westboro members, who have protested at funerals across the country. In April, a handful of Westboro members picketed outside of the University of Florida Hillel, the Jewish student center, and Trinity United Methodist Church, and Jones and about 30 members of his congregation joined the WBC members outside of Trinity United. While officials from President Barack Obama to Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton have condemned Jones' plan, Fox News reported Thursday that a White House spokesman said the administration is considering contacting Jones to urge him to call it off.
