The Original Meaning of Separation "Church-and-State" was the the State would have no jurisdiction over the Church, NOT that God and the Ten Commandments would be removed from the Nation's Culture, the Public Square, Government, or School Classrooms! "FREE CHURCH!" In the USA; The term "free church" refers to Christian Churches that are separate from government. Factually, "Church" is ONLY the organizational structure of the Christian Faith, and has NOTHING to do with Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, etc. Factually, "Church" is ONLY the organizational structure of the Christian Faith. FACT: The terms "steeple", "choir loft", "pews", "organ", "communion table" and "burning candles" are not even mentioned once in the Christian Bible, and the Christian Bible is the ONLY document on Earth that defines the Christian Church!
>> "Church" is NOT a public charity, though they can, should and do, help the poor and needy - at home and a broad;
"Church" is The "Body of Christ" - of which Jesus is the Head, and The Founder of His Church, which He defines as follows: "Where ever two or three are gathered together 'In My Name', there I AM in their midst of them." Matthew 18:20 FACT: EVERY church mentioned in Scripture met in private homes or on public property, and can Churches can officially meet where ever they decide to meet: be it a city park, public school-house, or under the old oak tree! FACT: CHURCH can even meet at the U.S. Capitol Building as it did for nearly a century - with Thomas Jefferson attending faithfully, joining in membership - or in the U.S Dept of Treasury - or the Chamber of the U.S. Supreme Court! . . . . . . serving Holy Communion to Christian Government employees, by Ministers being PAID by tax dollars . . . with the Marine Band often playing - lending their influence to Jesus Christ and Christianity - the band also being PAID by tax dollars! See it all here on the U.S Government's Official Website, and note the Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and James Madison were the MAIN government agents - as Presidents of the USA and Author of the Declaration of Independence, Father of the Revolution, and Father of the American Constitution;You may be interested to know that these Government Churches were so successful, the Church meeting in the U.S. Capitol became the LARGEST CHURCH IN THE USA - and remained so until some time after the Civil War! (Can you see these Founding Fathers' understanding of the First Amendment was RADICALLY different from the U.S. Supreme Court in the latter 20th Century???) Thus the CHURCH, CHRIST'S CHURCH - existed legally, factually and indisputably - for many, many centuries before the New World was even discovered, much less the USA becoming a legal entity in its own right!FACT: The new nation of the USA did NOT want a King appointing Bishops like the King of England did. FACT: Neither did the new USA want their Federal Government legally designing a Federal National Church as with the Church of England; (and Germany, France, Italy, Scandinavian nations, etc.,) FACT: Nor did the new USA want their Federal Government officially translating the Bible as King James had done, and making the GOVERNMENT'S translation the ONLY STATE AUTHORIZED VERSION! FACT: Additionally, the new USA did NOT want their Federal Government "Licensing" and "Ordaining" Ministers as the federal Government did - and still does! FACT: Thus were the reasons behind and the American definition and understanding of "Separation of Church and State" by the Founding Fathers - clear, simple and indisputable to the educated and honest researcher! FACT: Obviously, the FREE CHURCH was the ONLY kind Church originating in the USA, . . . . . . though there were some Churches of England, etc., operating in the USA after the Revolution, with the King of England and and England's Parliament STILL dictating Beliefs, Bibles, Prayer-Books, Ordination, etc.,FACT: The American Founding Fathers GUARANTEED the FREE CHURCH status FOREVER in the USA by the first amendment, expressly forbidding: >> The U.S. "CONGRESS SHALL MAKE NO LAW (PERIOD!). . . >> RESPECTING (this is regarding, NOT preferring) >> AN ESTABLISHMENT OF RELIGION (regardless of who did make establishment of religion from a local Church to a Christian orphanage to a Bible Society, Mission Board to Native Indians or abroad, or religious UNION AGAINST Alcohol (the Temperance Union) or anti-slavery abolitionist religious movements, etc. etc., oo [Note also this does NOT guarantee any individual's right to freedom of conscience to hold any kind of crazy-ridiculous "belief system" they CLAIM as their truly held belief . . . . . . whether they be making human sacrifices, animal sacrifices, using illegal drugs in worship, exploiting children sexually, or own many wives, etc. oo This Constitution right ONLY limits the US Congress from making laws against ESTABLISHED RELIGION: truly 'bone fide' religion, recognized and legitimate, with a known Bible and established practiced: Judaism, Christianity, Islam, etc. oo To the contrary, the US Congress has every right, and responsibility, to make sound moral law that safeguards people from human sacrifices, animal sacrifices, using illegal drugs, exploiting children sexually, or being owned as a spouse, etc.; xxx Note lastly the emphasis on "ESTABLISHMENT OF RELIGION" is this Constitutional Right: the words right to worship (often with bizarre practices), right to personal conscience (and exploitative beliefs), right to your own church (with exploitative beliefs), right to bizarre cults as witchcraft and devil worship (with no established religion value), . . . . . .nor any right to other bizarre belief claims from eating human flesh (Jeffery Dahmer) to having sex and making babies by young virgin girls, (from Warren Jeffs, Mormon; to David Koresh, Branch Dravidians); . . . NONE of these NON-ESTABLISHED RELIGIOUS CULTS are protected by the First Amendment!

History A free church - especially in the USA with strong separation of Church and state - does not have governments define church policy or theology, and neither seeks nor receives government endorsement or funding for its general mission.The Free Church DOES, however, seek to be the Conscience and Guide of the Government at all levels! The Free Church is a pattern that flourished in the Americas - even though founded in Europe outside of the state system - while much of modern Europe maintains some government involvement in religion and churches via taxation to support them and by appointing ministers, bishops, authorized Bibles, dictating Articles of Faith, etc.,[1][2] Secular and Non-Catholic historians would typically argue that this is historically what the Christian Church was before Emperor Constantine and the State church of the Roman Empire, [see Early Christianity]; . . .and did not appear again until the Protestant Reformation in groups such as the Waldensians, Followers of John Wycliffe and John Hus, French Huguenots, Moravians, German-Swiss Calvinists, independent Lutherans, Amish, Mennonite, Puritans-&-Pilgrims of England, the Anabaptists, and John Wesley's early Methodists of the 17th and 18th centuries, and many lesser groups; Perhaps the most recent significant group - the Evangelicals Free Church - formed in 1950 from the merger of the Swedish Evangelical Free Church and the Norwegian-Danish Evangelical Free Church Association.
Presbyterianism A number of churches in Scotland and Northern Ireland, mainly of the presbyterian tradition, have used the name 'Free Church'. The most important of these to persist at the present time is the Free Church of Scotland.
Free Church Growth in China! Within present-day China the largest free churches are the True Jesus Church, Local Churches and Born Again Movement.Amazingly and wonderfully, possibly 140-150 million Christians in China belong to 5-million Free "house churches" along with some isolated radio churches. FACT: There are more Born-Again Christians in China than any other nation, China having about 1.3 Billion citizens.
