Ten Problems in Third-World & Small Bible Colleges
Background:Cambridge Theological Seminary™ International is a "System of Making Disciples", a "System of establishing Bible Colleges" in local Churches at home and abroad, developed specifically for third-world-nations. Cambridge Theological Seminary™ - a ‘trade-marked name’ - is "a method" - one might say - much like Oxford University has the “Oxford Method” of individualized learning that extends for beyond its borders. Thus the Cambridge Theological Seminary™ International is a "System" more than a place - as it is many places; and more than an organization - as it is many organizations. The Cambridge “System” is strictly for assisting small Bible Colleges starting-up in third-world nations, primarily to enable, empower, educate, and equip minority Christian leaders, or at home, as the need calls for. The Cambridge Theological Seminary™ International (system) developed, not as conceptual theory, but in simple response to ubiquitous problems that factually exist in their-world nations. The greatest problems facing the founding of Bible Schools (colleges, institutes, seminaries, all considered the same for purposes of explaining our system) in destitute third-world nations are as follows: [1] Costs of getting started, organized, and functional, [2] Leadership divided from Local Church (who often financially sponsors the school), [3] College text-books are prohibitively expensive, [4] Getting a full-curriculum for a little Bible School is very difficult, [5] Lack of computer access to online courses for students in general [6] Lack of buildings/facilities, [7] Legal red-tape in many nations, [8] Lack of school-to-school-communication & cooperation, lack of websites etc. [9] Lack of permanent record-keeping, and back-up-copies [10] Lack of money in having a full-scale Bible School in a third-world nation The Cambridge Theological Seminary™ System (CTSS) seeks to solve these 10 problems, actually presenting itself as a leader in a “Bible Education Revolution” and hoping for great things in the next 50 years! Cambridge Theological Seminary™ Page-2[PROBLEM-1] Cost of getting started, organized, and functioning; [1-ANSWER] Cambridge Theological Seminary™ System (CTSS) insists and charters that the Bible School Organization (seminary) is “One-&-the-same-with-the-Church Organization” and NOT a separate organization, as Christ Himself was a “Master Teacher” - NOT a “Pastor” - and His Great Commission is to “teach all nations all things” not just comfort and console the hurting. Mat 28:18-20, This solves much of the getting-started problem as local churches already exist. As a point of understanding Cambridge CTSS further insists and charters by definition-1, that a self-proclaimed-Church which does not “teach-&-train” Leaders is not a true Church; and by definition-2, that “Bible-Schools-Seminaries” existing as independent entities from a Local Church - legal or otherwise - are not Scriptural Bible schools. [PROBLEM-2] Leadership divided from Local Church (who often financially sponsors the school); [2-ANSWER] CTSS insists and charters the Local Pastor lead the Bible school-Seminary as Pastor or Bishop (not a “President” of a separate educational corporation), also teaching the initial Key Classes. This solves the divided leadership problem, and further helps with cost of hiring separate teachers, as the Pastor is already being paid. [PROBLEM-3] College text-books are prohibitively expensive; [3-ANSWER] CTSS insists and charters the Word of God be the “text” book in all classes on Preaching, Pastoring, Evangelizing, Missions, Ministry, Discipleship, etc., and all other books must be resigned to “collateral reading” - rather than visa-versa! This solves the great expense of attaining college texts, and also decreases divisive denominationalism, as simply studying the Word of God brings unity - not division. [PROBLEM-4] Getting a full-curriculum for a little Bible School is very difficult; [4-ANSWER] CTSS insists and charters the Local Pastor and staff to develop a few “Key Primary Courses” in which they have good expertise and can teach, while getting the “secondary-courses” from online sources (downloaded and copies made - not taught online in virtual classrooms with teachers, etc.). This helps solve the getting a full curriculum problem.Cambridge Theological Seminary™ Page-3 [PROBLEM-5] Lack of computer access to online courses; [5-ANSWER] CTSS insists and charters the Local Pastor to put some of their personally-developed-courses online for others to use “For Free” - just as they use courses developed by others online for free. This also helps solve the getting a full curriculum problem. [PROBLEM-6] Lack of buildings/facilities; [6-ANSWER] CTSS insists and charters the Local Pastor to use the “local-Church-facility” for their Bible School, rather than seeking other facilities. This helps solve the high cost of facilities problem. [PROBLEM-7] Legal red-tape in many nations; [7-ANSWER] CTSS seeks to help in cutting through the “legal red tape” by getting those who have already started a local Church and/or school to assist those who are getting started, by coordinating the telephone numbers, emails, and the expertise that each may have to help the others This helps solve the lengthy-red-tape problem. [PROBLEM-8] Lack of school-to-school-communication & cooperation, lack of websites, etc; [8-ANSWER] CTSS further seeks to assist all in getting started by enhancing school-to-school-communication, by establishing websites for them for free, with contact info, the courses they personally have developed and made available - many of which are not online as yet - but are only available in paper copy. This helps solve many problems in getting started. [PROBLEM-9] Lack of permanent record-keeping, and back-up-copies; [9-ANSWER] CTSS seeks to assist all Bible schools who have started, by establishing back-up Permanent Record-Keeping for transcripts and diploma/degrees - with secondary back-up-copies - for all who want records kept, able to be verified third-party, sent to other schools, etc.Cambridge Theological Seminary™ Page-4 This helps solve many problems that can occur in third-world countries . . . as governments, Churches, denominations, schools, leaders, etc., can rise and fall with incredible rapidity, thus we seek to globally safeguard the Credentials of Christian leaders who suffered many hardships to attain Education & Training. [PROBLEM-10] Lack of money in having a full-scale Bible School, on-going in third-world nations; [10-ANSWER] Finally, because costs are so prohibitive, CTSS urges all Bible Schools to move toward a 100% free Ministry! Churches already don’t charge to “preach” the gospel to the “uncommitted”, so why should we charge to “teach” the gospel to the “committed”? Jesus did not Charge to Teach-&-Train His Disciples, so where do Bible schools get Scriptural authority to charge exorbitant prices for Discipleship teaching & training? Obviously, this is a radical departure from the norm, but 150 years ago, the only people allowed to sit on a pew in a Church-house were those who purchased one: thus poor people stood in the back, and the idea of having “free seating” was so radical . . . that it was attacked by those who had always charges “high prices.” Most Churches believed they MUST have this income from rented-pews . . . but the conviction that all should be welcomed to sit-for-free slowly gained followers, and faith grew to believe God could meet their financial needs without selling-seats! In time, we believe all Conservative Bible Schools will also be free, getting most of their courses from “online” - because we intend to put them there for ALL - for FREE! (NOTE: The CTSS does NOT ever mean “online-classes” in the traditional sense, as used in the USA - of virtual classrooms, live teachers, interaction, etc. - but rather the simple downloading of high-quality courses and Bible Studies from online, making copies, and distributing on location, in third-world nations, etc.) In the meantime, we urge all schools to offer some classes for “free” - thus financially destitute ministers from any nation, by using the various “free courses online” will eventually be able to complete their education and attain their desired degree - “free-of-charge!” This is our desire, belief, profession, and urging for all . . . so we aggressively advocate for Ministers seeking religious online-classes-&-degrees, and if they are having a difficult time finding a particular class, we try to help find it for them, and urge the Bible School leaders to “follow the Golden Rule” and “do unto other as you would have others do unto you:” no charge!
