Christ's Philosophy of Ministry -4
"Christ's Method of Making Disciples!"
(“How YOU can win the Whole-World - in 27 years!”)
What Christ Started to Train Disiples & Leaders for Tomorrow!
WHAT DID JESUS START: HE STARTED A CHURCH!Jesus made His "shocking" announcement very "abruptly": "I will build MY CHURCH-EKKLESIA, and the Gates of Hell shall not prevail against it!" [1] Remember first of all, and always, what Jesus ‘Absolutely Guaranteed’ with all of His Divine Being: "I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH-EKKLESIA!" SIMPLE FACTS: > > [FACT-A] Jesus said “I Will” . . . build my Church-Ekklesia. “I Will” is indisputably and only future. He did not say “I Am” building My Church. He did not say “I have” built My Church.” He did not say “I have been building My Church”, He did not say “I have begun” building My Church. Jesus clearly said “I Will” build My Church. In other words, He hadn’t started building “His Church-Ekklesia” yet - in Matthew 16 & 18 - officially speaking, it was yet future.
> > [FACT-B] Jesus saying “I Will” . . . build my Church-Ekklesia, is indisputably and only a definite statement. He did not say “I might” build My Church-Ekklesia, He did not say “I am thinking about” building My Church-Ekklesia. He did not say I am going to “try” . . . and see if I can build My Church-Ekklesia.
Jesus said without any contradiction or hesitation: “I ‘WILL’ . . . build my Church-Ekklesia!”
> > [FACT-C] Jesus said "HE" would build His Church-Ekkesia! Jesus did not say: “My Disciples will build My Church-Ekklesia!” Jesus did not say: “My Ministers will build My Church-Ekklesia!” Jesus also did not say: “My Church-Ekklesia . . . will build My Church-Ekklesia!”
Yet most Ministers & Christians SEEM to think Jesus said: “My Church-Ekklesia . . . will build My Church-Ekklesia!”
Much, much more on this later.
> > [FACT-D] That there is more than “one kind of Church” is evident from the modifier Christ used in declaring specifically: “My Church!” If there were only “one kind of Church possible” . . . then it would have been ignorant and redundant to specify “My Church” . . . if Christ’s Church was all there ever were, or all there ever could be.
So we need to know who and what the “other Churches” are, and how to distinguish among them. It is not a “spiritual exercise of separating denominations and categorizing some as cults” as none of these are “churches” per se.
> > [FACT-E] The word Church-Ekklesia is not a new word. Church-Ekklesia is also not an unusual word, and surprisingly to most, Church-Ekklesia is not even a spiritual word. To the diametric contrary, Church-Ekklesia was a very common word,. . . so common, that the whole Roman world knew it as well as any "concept" of the common culture.
> > [FACT-F] The word “Church in English" - is used to translate and communicate the Greek word “Ekklesia in Greek” 115 times in the New Testament. Ekklesia is also translated “assembly” three times in the New testament (in Acts 19 & Hebrews)for 118 total references. Ekklesia-Church was a very common word of great antiquity: from Ancient Greece (8th century BC to 5th century) through the Classical Greek Age (from 5th century to 2nd century) , and on to the Age of Roman Caesars (from 1st Century BC forward to the 5th century AD).
> > [FACT-G] The actual meaning of the word Church-Ekklesia - as it had been used widely, commonly, every where, and every day, for many centuries - /b>Christ never defined for His disciples - (being such an obviously well-known concept with the same, unchanging meaning for a vast period of time, approaching 1,000 years). Perhaps even much more surprisingly, neither did Christ “redefine” the common meaning: so well-known was it to the whole Roman World at that time. Christ apparently - was satisfied with the 800-year old definition of “Church-Ekklesia” - as He did not alter it in the least!
> > [FACT-H] What Christ did boldly proclaim - without dispute, without debate, without redefining, without modification, without exception or exclusion . . ./b> was to simply ‘establish ownership’ of His Church-Ekklesia that He would Build! “My Church-Ekklesia!” Christ claimed. Jesus boldly declared to His shocked disciples: “I will build My Church-Ekklesia!”
What was is . . . that Christ actually birthed and claimed as His own - that was so exactly alike all other known Churches-Ekklesias that it needed no re-defining whatsoever, . . .
. . . yet would be so dramatically distinct that it could easily be recognized from all others - that He also guaranteed He personally would build?
Christ’s Church! The greatest Mystery of all time, that the Prophets desired to “see that day" and "Angels desired to look into" (observe it‘s building).
> > [FACT-I] Whatever His Church-Ekklesia was to be, Jesus further guaranteed that “His Church-Ekklesia” would be successful to the extreme, that it would be a “*sect” - as it was called by Divine Inspiration; or “movement” - such as being called “That Way”, also by Divine Inspiration.
[*“sect” - this is another word that you REALLY need to look up the definition!!! It is so shocking, amazing and powerful!] Jesus furthermore did not say that His Church-Ekklesia would be a struggling Church-Ekklesia on “defense” - just trying to ‘hold on’ . . . or just trying to ‘stay-alive’. Jesus never hinted in any degree at a struggling, defensive, bare-existence, fighting-for-its-life position, . . . but rather Jesus guaranteed that His Church-Ekklesia would be of such “great offensive posture” . . .
. . . So much so - that His Church-Ekklesia would “attack” all opposition (evil), and defeat all opposition - to such a complete degree; Christ even promised that the “Gates of Hell” would not be able to withstand against the massive Spiritual onslaught - from “Christ’s Mighty, Eternal, Invincible, Indestructible, Undefeatable Church-Ekklesia!”
Christ did NOT Promise Now let us look at what this Promise of Christ - “I will build My Church” - does NOT say: > > Jesus did not guarantee to build every Church-organization that used His Name,
> > Jesus did not claim that every Church which claimed to belong to Him, was truly His.
> > Christ only took responsibility for “The True Church” - the one that He started, the one that actually belonged to Him, the only one that He personally and completely owned, the only one that would accept Christ and Christ alone as the Head, . . . and obeyed Him alone as KING of Kings!
The true Church-Ekklesia - whoever and where ever it is, submits to Christ as the Owner, as the complete and final Authority, as KING of Kings and LORD of Lords - literally as the “dictator” in the Greek being a most powerful word: ““Pantakrator!” (this we find translated into English as the “Potentate” - by the Apostle Paul - meaning greatly “potent!” . . . and Omnipotent” by John the Revelator - “omni” meaning in all ways, in all circumstances, and everywhere: “Potent!”
In fact, herein lies the identity of Christ’s Church!
In all of the Churches claiming to be Christ’s - secular and spiritual - perhaps using His Name, and/or some of His teaching - or even mostly His teaching - if one looks to see whom the Church OBEYS . . . and “bows to in final Authority” - one will learn whose Church it really is.
We find some early Churches “claimed to be Christ’s” - but bowed to the pressure of the Judiazers, feared their threats and obeyed their commands. Others bowed to the Roman Empire with divided loyalty, while properly claiming that “Jesus is Lord!”, while also claiming that “Caesar is Lord!” They said “Hail Christ” - and properly so - while also greeting Caesar’s representatives and authority personnel with the same regard: “Hail Caesar!”
The Judaistic Churches came to naught, and the Roman Empire-bowing Churches also came to naught. Christ’s Church . . . whatever that was and is . . . Christ promised an Eternal Existence: invincible and indestructible.
JESUS CHRIST: "I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH!" What we next need to understand about Christ’s Church is Christ’s Promise regarding His Church: "I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH! We have established the pre-existence of the word “Church-Ekklesia” in general - that the whole world knew and understood what secular Church-Ekklesia was for over 800 years . . . contrasting that with the one that would belong to Christ alone.
Now we establish Christ's promise to “build” His Church! The word "build" in the Greek language is a "continuing-present-verb-tense." This is one of the greatest things any Christian can ever learn in understanding God’s Word . . . and both the Hebrew & Greek languages have a "continuing-present-verb-tense" . . . and that sadly, we DO NOT have such a continuing verb-tense in English! Therefore, . . so we in English MISS some great New Testament Truths, . . by NOT having that grammatical structure of a "CONTINUING VERB TENSE.
[NOTE: I personally haven’t done a study to actually “count the denominations that divide, dispute, demise, and decay” BECAUSE they are interpreting God’s Word while NOT KNOWING when - and where - it uses the tremendously important "continuing-present-verb-tense” . . . but they are many: HUNDREDS for certain.]
However, my fellow-laborer - understanding the Greek “continuing-verb-tense” - here is what Jesus actually communicated to His Disciples . . . and all believers of all generations:
I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH, (and continuing-verb-tense) . . . and KEEP ON Building My Church, (and continuing-verb-tense) . . . and CONTINUE to build My Church, (and continuing-verb-tense) . . . And ALWAYS be Building My Church, (and continuing-verb-tense) . . . and NEVER - EVER - NEVER - EVER - NEVER STOP building my Church! ! ! !
One Church is all that Jesus ever started! WHAT JESUS DID NOT DO!What Jesus did NOT do is start a Bible College distinct and separate from His Church-Ekklesia! > > [1] Jesus could have started a Bible School separate from His Church-Ekklesia, . . . but He DIDN'T!
> > [2] Jesus could have started a Bible School and enrolled His Disciples on a "three-year-Degree-Program, . . . but He DIDN'T!
> > [3] Jesus could have rented or built a building and started a Bible School, hiding out with His Disciples behind the four-walls everyday . . . but He DIDN'T!
> > [4] Jesus could have started a Bible School and required His Disciples complete the program before Ordaining them, . . . but He DIDN'T!
> > [5] Jesus could have started a Bible School and required His Disciples study homiletics and hermeneutics before sending them out to Preach, . . . but He DIDN'T!
> > [6] Jesus could have started a Bible School and required His Disciples get an "Advanced Degree" before they wrote Scripture, . . . but He DIDN'T!
> > [7] Jesus could have started a Bible School and required all Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers get a Degree before using their "Titles", . . . but He DIDN'T!
* * * Since Jesus didn't do ANY of these things . . . why do we modern Churches - from mainstream to Bible, from Baptist to Full Gospel - DO ALL OF THESE THINGS? WHAT JESUS "DID" DO!What Jesus DID do is start His Church-Ekklesia, COMPLETE! Nothing missing, nothing broken, nothing needed! > > [1] Since Jesus started His Church-Ekklesia COMPLETE, . . . a true Church includes "Full-Scale Leadership-Training Program!"
> > [2] Since Jesus started His Church-Ekklesia COMPLETE, . . . a true Church "IS" . . . a "Bible School!"
> > [3] Since Jesus started His Church-Ekklesia COMPLETE, . . . a true Church includes "Training in how to Pray!"
> > [4] Since Jesus started His Church-Ekklesia COMPLETE, . . . a true Church includes "Training in how to Preach!"
> > [5] Since Jesus started His Church-Ekklesia COMPLETE, . . . a true Church includes "Training in how to Win Souls!"
> > [6] Since Jesus started His Church-Ekklesia COMPLETE, . . . a true Church includes "Training in how to Teach!"
> > [7] Since Jesus started His Church-Ekklesia COMPLETE, . . . a true Church includes "Training in how to Counsel!"
> > [8] Since Jesus started His Church-Ekklesia COMPLETE, . . . a true Church includes "Training in how to Minister in Music!"
> > [9] Since Jesus started His Church-Ekklesia COMPLETE, . . . a true Church includes "Training in how to Minister to the sick, imprisoned, homeless, hurting and distressed!"
> > [10] Since Jesus started His Church-Ekklesia COMPLETE, . . . a true Church includes "Training in how to be an Evangelist!"
> > [11] Since Jesus started His Church-Ekklesia COMPLETE, . . . a true Church includes "Training in all Offices from Deacon to Bishop!"
> > [12] Since Jesus started His Church-Ekklesia COMPLETE, . . . a true Church includes "Training in how to Pastor!"
> > [13] Since Jesus started His Church-Ekklesia COMPLETE, . . . a true Church includes "Training in how to Minister in Foreign Missions!"
> > [14] Since Jesus started His Church-Ekklesia COMPLETE, . . . a true Church includes "Training in how to Minister to children, youth, singles, marrieds, divorcees, seniors and all others!"
> > [15] Since Jesus started His Church-Ekklesia COMPLETE, . . . a true Church includes "Training in how to Minister "Holiness and Wholeness!" to one-&-all
* * * Since the Church Jesus started did ALL of these things . . . why do we modern Churches - from mainstream to Bible, from Baptist to Full Gospel - DO ALMOST NONE OF THESE THINGS???
MYTH OF THE MODERN BIBLE SCHOOL & SEMINARY!"
Read what the President of Union Bible College, one of the oldest in the nation says: Many colleges take the name of "Christian." Many once stood for the fundamentals of the faith and were separated from the world; yet today they are not very different from secular schools. In fact in some ways they are more dangerous. The error they promote is camouflaged by a sprinkling of truth and an emphasis on "Christian love." John A. Whitaker - President Union College
You already know that Jesus never started a Bible College or a Seminary. . . . but don't we of "Bible Churches For Christ" have a Seminary . . . the Cambridge Theological Seminary™? Yes we do, but our Seminary is radically different: The goal of our seminary, Cambridge Theological Seminary™ is to bring a "complete end" to every Traditional Seminary on Earth!
Jesus never started a Bible College, Bible School, Bible Seminary, Christian College or any similar type training facility, apart from the Local Church!
The Church-Ekklesia is all that Jesus ever started, or ever authorized anyone anywhere to carry on in His Name! You might be surprised to know that the "Seminary Concept" was developed by the Roman Catholic Church in the famous "Council of Trent" in 1577.
The Roman Church developed the "Seminary Concept" to train Ministers in response to the Protestant Reformation, to correct some of the abuses of the catholic Priesthood. It was developed from the tradition of "Catholic Monks & Nuns" going away to pray and meditate in isolation.
As sincere as the ancient Monks may have been, going away in isolation to pray and meditate for years is the EXACT OPPOSITE of Christ's commands and "Blood-perspiring Prayer in John 17 where He prayed.
Christ Praying: John 17:11 - "And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. John 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
John 17:16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
John 17:18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
Thus there can be no dispute that when Christ calls a Minister . . . it is to "train them in real life" and then to SEND THEM INTO THE WORLD!
For God so loved the WORLD that He gave His only begotten Son . . . John 3:16
For God sent NOT His Son into the WORLD to condemn the WORLD but that the WORLD through Him should be SAVED! John 3:17
> > [1] When Ministry Training as Christ did is taken out of His Church - and put into an artificial Bible Schools that Christ neither started nor authorized - the "Urgency of Ministry" is lost, in the student body. > There is "no local Church" . . . with all of the vast needs of humanity where they need to be IMMEDIATELY APPLYING ALL THAT THEY LEARN! > > > Instead of "real-world-Church" - there is the artificial world of mostly teens & early twenties, dating, and dancing, social drinking and much - sexual immorality . . .
> There is no "soul-winning program" where new converts are brought into the Church as "babes in Christ" and nurtured into fully mature christian disciples. > > > Instead of "real-world-Church" - there is the artificial world of mostly teens & early twenties, with movies and parties on the weekends, freedom from parents and personal responsibility to elders and Ministry.
> There is no "real-world Ministry" of leading youth and teaching Sunday School, of Nursery working and visiting real-live-shut-ins that they have know all of their life:
> > > Instead of "real-world-Church" - there is the artificial world of mostly teens & early twenties, with sports and cars and jobs on the weekends, perhaps even experimenting with "recreational drugs, and moral perversion!
> There is no "real-world Ministry" of counseling teens and children of single parents at a continual series of "crossroads" . . . of being the Big-Brother and Big-Sister volunteering to help the destitute, from tutoring to baby-sitting and always: nurturing in the Lord! > > > Instead of "real-world-Church" - there is the artificial world of mostly teens & early twenties, where even in the best of youth in this "plastic world" - is steeped in "ME-ism" - it's all about me: MY grades, MY GPA, MY Career, MY Degree, MY future, MY resume, MY Goals, MY Dreams, MY wealth-filled desires . . .
> > [2] When Ministry Training as Christ did is taken out of His Church - and put into artificial Bible Schools that Christ neither started nor authorized - the "Urgency of Ministry" is lost, in the faculty.
> > > Instead of "real-world-Church" - there is the artificial world of mostly teens & early twenties, dating, and dancing, social drinking and much - sexual immorality . . . sometimes for the faculty. Consider Wheaton College, premier evangelical Bible School, famed school of Dr. Billy Graham, and former home of Great Evangelist Dr. John R. Rice who moved his "Sword-of-the-Lord" Ministry to Wheaton to have his headquarters in the heart of "On-fire evangelism" . . . . . . Wheaton - just recently and unabashedly - put their "Stamp-of-approval" on what had been going of for a decade or two behind the scene: drugs and alcohol and dating for the faculty - as well as the students and their "newly-approved-coed-dorms." Such is the "fasting-&-prayer", "urgency-of-Revival", "burden for lost-souls", "weeping for the nation" of the artificial Bible College world.
> There is little-or-no "soul-winning program" where new converts are brought into the Church as "babes in Christ" and nurtured into fully mature christian disciples. There is little-or-no "real-world Ministry" of leading youth and teaching Sunday School, of Nursery working and visiting real-live-shut-ins that they have known all of their life:
> There is little-or-no "real-world Ministry" of bus-ministry, of counseling teens and children of single parents at a continual series of "crossroads" . . . of being the Big-Brother and Big-Sister volunteering to help the destitute, from tutoring to baby-sitting and always: nurturing in the Lord!
What is true for the "faculty is also true for the staff from secretaries to janitors and grounds-keepers: The "Urgency-of-Ministry", "burden of lost-souls", "fasting-&-prayer", the daily "from house-to-house-with-tears" of the Apostle Paul true-type "real-world-Ministry-of-a-serious-local-Church is simply non-existent.
There can be NO CHANGE from Christ's "Local Church Training!" There is no way to compensate or correct these massive changes in atmosphere between the "Local Church that Christ Started" and the "Artificial, Plastic World of Bible-College." The local Church additionally must serve, pray, and believe for, "tithes and offerings to pay the bills and feed their families.
This is "light-years" from the "Artificial Bible College World" who neither needs to pray nor believe for God's Provision . . . but rather blithely depends upon "Government Loans and Grants to meet their needs.
There truly are many other grave and serious distinctions between the "Local Church that Christ Started" and the "Artificial, Plastic World of Bible-College." However, this article should be enough to make it clear "WHY" . . . the current model of "Copying Harvard-&-Yale" with the Roman Catholic invention of the "Monastery-type of Bible School" - separate-&-distinct from the authority and ministry of Christ's Local Church . . . MUST become extinct!
[Especially those financed by anti-Christ sodomite government loans and grants!]
There is NO Scriptural authority whatsoever to organize a "Ministry Training College" apart from the Local Church Christ started and owns completely!
Conservative Bible Christians are not against books, it is just that books are a very small part of "complete learning!" Let's look at the facts:
> > [1] Jesus NEVER sat down with His disciples and got out the Scrolls;
> > [2] Jesus NEVER told His disciples to go out and buy such and such a Scrolls;
> > [3] Jesus NEVER told His disciples to read so much in the Bible Scrolls every day;
> > [4] Jesus NEVER quizzed His disciples or gave them "final exams" on what they had been assigned to read in any Scrolls;
> > [5] Jesus NEVER questioned His disciples on their reading of anything: Bible Scrolls or other scrolls;
> > [6] Jesus certainly NEVER gave His disciples final grades or a "Degree" based upon what they had been assigned to read in any Scrolls;
> > [7] Jesus could have made life much simpler for all modern Christians had He written some Principles and Practices very plainly - in light of the nearly 40,000 denominations world-wide but He never wrote a single sentence as far as anyone knows!
Jesus could have done any of the following: > > Build a new building for regular services (He was a carpenter with plenty of men to help build) > > Bought a new building for regular services (He had women who ministered to Him out of their substance)
> > Rented a building for regular services (He could have rented the Synagogue for the first-day-of-the-week)
> > Met under a tree for regular services (He often taught out of doors)
> > Jesus could have had "Sunday-Healing Services, and drawn bigger crowds than 300-500 Synagogues COMBINED! (Think what publicity that would have gotten him!)
But Jesus didn't pay any attention to drawing a crowd or the largeness of any crowd.
Thus as in Matt 5, Jesus LEFT the massive multitudes and climbed a high Mountain (I've been there, climbed it and it takes three hours!!!)
> > Only the dedicated WOULD make the climb - who really wanted - what He had to teach
