The male Shepherds ABIDING in the fields with their flocks were Nomadic Bedouins - LIVING there completely, and traveling with their flocks from pasture to pasture, just as we read throughout the Old Bible from Abraham, Isaac & Jacob to Moses, David, and many of the Prophets.

HOWEVER, they were not living alone: They lived in the fields with their wives and their children!

Trained SHEEP DOGS are amazing animals. In fact, there are perhaps NO DOGS as smart as SHEEP DOGS, and that is saying a lot.

> > Dogs are trained to be the ‘eyes of the blind’ recognizing dangers from cars to thugs and gangs. Seeing-eye-dogs develop a ‘watch-care-GUARDIAN’ attitude seeming to take a REAL RESPONSIBILITY for their owners.

It is this ‘Watch-Care’ guardian attitude assuming responsibility that is most amazing. Not only is their the ‘emotion’ and ’affection’ of pet dogs with kids or grandparents, but that discernment that somehow there are being depended upon by their masters.

This ‘Protective-Responsibility‘ seems to be the most highly developed in SHEEP DOGS Dogs can help with cattle and other farm animals but it almost seems that God DESIGNED them to help care for Sheep in the wilderness!

Be that as it may, ALL Shepherds have SHEEP-DOGS, especially those in the wilderness where sheep are shepherded without fences and stables.
