SAVED IN 1973
I first felt God's anointed call to preaching ministry, right after I was saved, Feb 13th, 1973, at Golf Street Christian Church, Elkins, WV.

My home Church many times placed me with Deacon Steerman, in ministry at their Mission Church in Valley Bend, WV., which became a thriving church of its own right. Deacon Steerman gave me opportunity to first publicly preach & teach there.

GROWING IN CHRIST
Some time after, God returned me back to my childhood church, Elkins (WV) Church of The Brethren, to assist then new Pastor Walter Blough in preaching & teaching as he was stricken with cancer (still living today in his 80's!). This led to many opportunities for me to both preach and teach, including Sunday mornings.

US ARMY SERVICE

In 1975 I went into US Army, and in 1976 was youth minister at Lagrange Baptist Church, Fayetteville, NC. Then also, I began nursing home monistry & some public street preaching, plus personal evangelism with a friend. I also did some "fill-in" preaching. I was sent by the Army to Houston Texas, on Army Recruiting Duty in 1979.

MAKES CALL PUBLIC

When and where I made public acceptance of my call to preach in 1980, at Midland Baptist Church, Corpus Christi, Texas. I got out of Army in August 1981, came back to Fayetteville, NC with 3 others couples began Fayetteville Christian Church, which became and still is a thriving church.

ORDINATION & EDUCATION

I was re-licensed in 2001 at Grace Baptist Church, Oliva NC, as Pastor Shelton's aassistant pastor & ordained by Bethel Bible College/Seminary, Sanford NC in 2002. I graduated with Bachelor in Biblical Studies and have been fruitfully preaching/teaching & leading sinners to Christ, since 1973 and have been so blessed!

I have also ministered in private meetings, church meetings, Army chapel settings as chaplain assistant, public arenas, nursing homes, and public setting preaching, plus being on television for 3 to 4 years.

CURRENT MINISTRY & EDUCATION

Currently, Bro. Roy still pastoring and preaching revivals. Through the years, Bro. Roy has earned a Master's degree in Evangelism - issued in 2008, and just this autumn, has completedstudies and requirements for the Doctor of Divinity from Cambridge Theological Seminary.

Some Poetry

My 1st Poetry Book "Mirrors Of Life's Abyss" came in "The Top Ten", for "The Tufk Kinsley Award For Poetry", the top American poetry award in 2004:

This was Awarded by Maramount School of Literature, and judged by the "American Association Of Poets"

I felt good about that and they want me to resubmit it with added poems . . . but I just don't have the time as of yet. Also, I have a second poetry book - "Unadulterated Love" - that's been awarded.

I have further written many religious texts, plus done years of editorial commentary to local area newspapers and out of state, including Washington Times, Boston Herald, & Elkins Inter- Mountain Newspaper.

I'm a good writer & poet, according to most folks I've conversed with on my writing, & according to those who can properly judge writing.

Messiah’s 1 Leg’d Preacher

A holy one leg’d man, walked Messiah land
People sought his wisdom; if one cud help, “he can”
He lived, seen, or heard; fought battles, done it all
His King James truths; line theology hall

Messiah’s 1 leg’d preacher, God uniquely called
Always up to God‘s task, when humanity stalled
He rose each day, to answer God’s call
King James by his side; no compromise, ne’er fall

Anointed set apart; gifted, sent by The Lord
So many earthly tasks, God used him for
Daily week by week, Messiah Ministry thrived
Messiah’s 1 leg’d preacher, save’n souls changed lives

He preached life answers, world blind from it all
God chose Messiah‘s preacher; anointed, gifted His call
Spiritual wars he fought, knock’n down people’s walls
satan tried to wear him out; though one leg, he preach’d tall

Prophetic prophet of doom, preach’n God’s narrow gate
Preach’n heaven or hell; “die in your sins, or escape”
Most rejected his truths, stayed in darkness God hates
Most believed man’s lies; rejected preacher’a hell’s gate

Shouted “here am I Lord; a small church, on one leg”
Messiah’s 1 leg’d preacher, sinner souls he’d beg
Squatter church preachers, have money an health
Messiah’s 1 leg’d preacher, a heart of gold his wealth

One of God’s chosen few; gave his all, never quit
“Well done faithful servant“; heard at funeral, God’s lips!
Crowded church overflowed, redeemed sinners galore
Area local leasts of leasts; flooded thru every door

True W.Va. holler born, but educated of holy men
True also God chose His path, to preach hard against sin
True he may never reach, preachers great hall of fame
True just a 1 leg’d preacher, holy sent with Messiah’s Name

One born in a barn, borrowed tomb He lay
One exchanged for silver, a traitor’s prey
One traitor took, the elders gave
One innocent offered his life to save

2 men died, 2 men hanged
1 noose was tightened, 1 hammer banged
1 hanging rope, 3 bloody nails
2 men dead, 2 gruesome tales

One son of perdition, One obeyed the law
One stooped so low, One hung so tall
One broke the trust, One took man’s fall
One died for self, One died for all

One a betrayer, One knew he would
One hung on rope, One hung on wood
One died by rope, One died by nail
One left a rope, One a bloody trail

One neck in a rope, One nailed on a cross
One traitor dead, one innocent loss
2 men in hell, 2 fates begin

Elders of envy, and a traitors greed
Traitor asked silver, the elders heed
Elders 30 pieces, traitor’s open hand
Traitor took silver, elders took The Man

A frenzied trial, of mockery feasts
Accusing liars, an envious priests
Jesus answered none, as justice fled
To Pilate’s judgment, the elders lead

Scourge beat’n whips, false worship praised
Stood naked of clothes, nearby they laid
A borrowed robe, crowned briar of thorn
Midst cursing laughs, riddle mocks of scorn

A trail of blood, lead through the street
All Apostles fled, pat eerie echo’s feet
Peering ahead, scribes an elders await
Crucifixion hill, cross of blood His fate

Raised Golgotha hill, a jagged splinter tree
In Jesus wrists an feet, hammer nailed all 3
Blood and water, His side they speared
Mock’n revel crowd, cursed spit and jeered

God turned His head, dark turned the land
For 3 dark hours, God moved Head an hand
Earthquakes shook, under Heaven’s Host
Crucified earth‘s Light, He gave up the ghost

Death’s odor of blood, swirled winds that day
Stench of bloody silver, showered men of prey
Faces gagged on blood. splattered in the wind
Off’ Calvary’s hill, blew His blood end to end

Day of gruesome sights, bloody wind, eerie smells
A dead Innocent Man, hung on 3 bloody nails
Ran a traitor for silver, a rope in his hand
Traitor hung himself, elders hung The Man

A treacherous deal, amongst treacherous men
Silver for blood, a traitor’s mutinous sin
30 pieces of silver, on a rope traitor hanged
On 3 jagged nails, cross of blood hammer banged
