SIMPLE ANSWER: Sadly, for 33 years we did not - though it was discussed at Corporate Board Meetings, the powers-that-be at that time were not in favor of it, mostly because their attitude was: "No one ever gave us a Doctor of Divinity Degree!" True, but not a good reason to not develop a powerful Christian weapon for the Kingdom.
However, the current board is very much "Kingdom Oriented", and we seek to make every decision by asking: "What will be the best for the Kingdom of God?" So now, after all these years, we are offering a Free Honorary Doctor of Divinity, "because" we want you to "Increase Your Influence for the Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ!"
It really is that simple!
