Soul Winning Churches! They're getting harder & harder to find!
It's quite amazing, actually. There aren't many things Jesus told us to do, S-O-O-O-O we do many things he NEVER did - OR said for us to do!
> We have Church "Services" [What chapter & verse is this?]
> We have Worship "Services" [What chapter & verse is this?]
> We have Adult Choir - That neither Jesus, Peter or Paul ever did - or said to do.
> We have other Special Singing Groups - That neither Jesus, Peter or Paul ever did - or said to do.
> We have Sunday School - instead of Monday-Friday School.
> Some still have 'Mid-week Prayer services, where we do almost everything EXCEPT pray.
> We have Men's Prayer Breakfast with lost of eating and little prayer except to ask God to "Bless our food" - which if He really did, He'd have to make it 'DISAPPEAR' as most traditional, greasy, breakfast food isn't fit to eat!
> We have Ladies Missionary Society [Will someone PLEASE tell me when this became a "WOMEN'S ONLY CONCERN"?
> We have basketball & softball leagues
> We show movies and videos
> We have fellowship dinners, soup suppers and rummage sales
> We have Christmas & other dramas & plays
> We have special activities and take the kids, teens and/or seniors here & there.
Modern Churches do EVERYTHING EXCEPT what Jesus commanded us TO DO!
"GO ye into the 'Streets & Lanes' of the City; the 'Highways & Hedges' (of the rural areas) and COMPEL them to come into
So that MY HOUSE might be 'F-U-L-L'! "
The USA is dissolving local Church congregations by the 'scores of thousands' where many of them haven't had a new adult convert in YEARS! Where the pastor hasn't confronted anyone with the Claims of Christ in YEARS! Where the members were NEVER taught how to win souls!
IT IS IMPOSSIBLE to have a local congregation that does not GROW if a pastor will follow the VERY SIMPLE but VERY EFFECTIVE "Jerry Falwell Plan of Soul-Winning"
Over many years and many of his Liberty graduates, Pastor Falwell learned that a Pastor could do as follows:
[ 1 ] Knock on 100 doors a day!
[ 2 ] Get to witness at about 10 of those homes,
[ 3 ] Of which persons in TWO homes would commit to Christ.
[ 4 ] Do this five days a week!
[ 5 ] Call as many of them as possible on Saturdays!
[ 6 ] Realize that about half will show up Sunday Morning
[ 7 ] Visit as situation requires Sunday Afternoon
The sad truth is, Jerry Falwell did more evangelism most any WEEK of his life than almost every pastor you know will do ALL OF THEIR LIFE!
Perhaps that's why God BLESSED his ministry most weeks, as mush as most average ministries are blessed in a life-time!
These figures held true for this writer, and built one of the fastest growing and largest rural local Churches in North America for many years.
IT IS SO SIMPLE! ! ! !
ONLY YOU - Can decide if you will obey Christ's Command to go to the Streets, Lanes, Highways & Hedges . . .
ONLY YOU - Can decide what you will offer to Christ for AN EXCUSE!
Think about it! You've tried every program & gimmick known to the human imagination. Many have done so much "ENTERTAINING" they are more CLOWN than Minister!
Pray about it!!
"IF" you decide to BE OBEDIENT, you will find much to be inspired about in learning from these Churches.
