There is NO WAY for us to know - if you are a 'Theologian with a Ph.D.' teaching in an Ivy League University Graduate School, a 'High-School Drop-Out' struggling to read & write, or somewhere in between. I am writing this as if writing to my Dearest Mother, or Precious Son! [ 1 ] FIRST you must realize the ONLY WAY we can know ANYTHING about God is through His Written Word. There is no other source.
ALL that matters is "What does GOD SAY FOR HIMSELF!" [ 3 ] God Himself says "we may be IGNORANT about many things regarding Him, Heaven, Hell, etc., etc., BUT THERE IS ONE THING we must not be ignorant of: that Father God is longsuffering, and NOT WILLING that any should perish! So FORGET ANY thoughts you have ever had that God has certain ones that He does not want to be saved. [ 4 ] Everyone knows John 3:16, but John 3:17 is equal or even better! God Himself says He DOES NOT WANT to CONDEMN the World, but He sent His Son that the WHOLE WORLD might be saved! [ 5 ] Modern Theology to the contrary Go is NOT content to win a 'few pitiful souls' and let 'satan' have '999 of 1,000 or even 9-of-10 Remember Jesus DID SAY! "If I be LIFTED UP (on the Cross) 'I WILL' DRAW ALL unto me!" So the FIRST FACT to FIX in your brain is that God WANTS massive multitudes - even the WHOLE WORLD to be saved - and this IS WHY He sacrificed His only begotten son: Jesus Christ: John 3:17. The SECOND FACT to FIX in your brain is that GOD wants you, me, everyone to KNOW THAT WE ARE SAVED, here and now, and not live a life of torture, worrying, wondering, hoping, praying, begging, etc. ["IF" you have a few-minutes, please read a bit of my story, or "IF NOT", skip to the HEADLINE - How can be SO SURE that YOU can KNOW You have Eternal Life? How can be SO SURE that YOU can KNOW You have Eternal Life?BECAUSE God's Holy Bible - ALL versions from Roman Catholic to Jehovah's Witnesses - say you can KNOW FOR SURE that you have Eternal Life!Let us FIRST OF ALL assure you BY HOLY SCRIPTURE that 'IT IS POSSIBLE to "K-N-O-W" - not just wish, hope, think, be somewhat sure, pretty sure, possibly sure, or probably sure: but SURE' that we do have Eternal Life! These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life. We find this in First John, the smallest Gospel, one of the earliest Gospels and perhaps the most wide-spread of all the New Testament Writings. God wants us to KNOW that we have eternal life;
NOT just forgiveness of sins, peace of mind, a relationship with God;
or a 'HOPE' of Eternal Life BUT A "K-N-O-W-I-N-G-!" You must read this and read this and read this UNTIL YOU KNOW, that it is POSSIBLE, that ANYONE "CAN KNOW" that they have this 'Life from God', that He gives it to them, and it lasts forever. God doesn't give you that which only lasts a decade, a year, a month a day or an hour. If it's from God, IT IS ETERNAL!!
Thus we don't KNOW we have Eternal Life because 'We Feel Like It!'Rather than 'Human Experience or Church Membership', our KNOWING of Eternal is by GOD'S INFALLIBLE WORD!In KNOWING that IT IS POSSIBLE to KNOW that you do have Eternal Life, it is very important to KNOW that it is NOT based on HOW YOU FEEL IN YOUR HEART! In fact, God knew that MOST OF US would NOT FEEL like we had Eternal Life, and that because our inner-most being - our heart - KNEW ALL OF OUR SIN, our own heart would CONDEMN US BEFORE GOD! So to make sure we did not allow NEGATIVE FEELINGS to block our "K-N-O-W-I-N-G" the Apostle John assures in the same little Gospel!
"For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart! . . ." So DON'T GO by your Heart! DON'T GO by what your GUT tells you! DON'T GO by what you think you are UNWORTHY OF! DON'T LET YOUR HEART CONDEMN YOU God says! WHY? Because GOD is much greater than a negative-feeling, pessimistic human-heart, and HE SAYS HE WANTS YOU TO KNOW!
It is 'UP TO YOU' to decide - if you BELIEVE God's Guarantee that we CAN KNOW and that He WANTS US TO KNOW!So AGAIN we assure you BY HOLY SCRIPTURE, that 'IT IS POSSIBLE to "K-N-O-W" - not just wish, hope, think, be somewhat sure, pretty sure, possibly sure, or probably sure: but SURE' that we do have Eternal Life! And that God WANTS US TO KNOW! He says so! These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life.
God wants us to KNOW that we have eternal life;

TEACH THIS TO OTHERS! Explain to someone what God Word says in I John!! Mark it in your own Bible with all kinds of Stars, underlining, and 'Smiley Faces'! Show this Scripture to a good friend or family member!
