Notice that MacArthur’s emphasis is upon WHAT MAN DOES (turning from sin, following Christ) rather than upon WHAT CHRIST HAS DONE.

MacArthur's emphasis is upon MAN’S COMMITMENT, rather than upon the Person and work of Christ and the response of faith to that Person and to His work.

MacArthur's emphasis is upon DO, but a true gospel message should emphasize DONE (John 19:30).

FACT! It is NOT our COMMITMENT that saves us; it is CHRIST who saves us.

FACT! Following Christ is a result of salvation, not a condition of salvation.

Before we can FOLLOW CHRIST in 'discipleship'

Luke 14:25-33 by far gives us the clearest, simplest explanation of the 'Three Requirements of Discipleship' . . . where Christ DEMANDS Disciples "Take up the cross and put Jesus before the following:

(1) Jesus before "self",

(2) Jesus before "all relationships" including spouse and children, Luke 14:26;

(3) Jesus before "all things", Luke 14:33




PLEASE see these THREE ABSOLUTE REQUIREMENTS FOR DISCIPLESHIP . . . are radically different from the 'Singular Requirement' of believing that "Jesus is the Christ!

JOHN 3:16 "For God so the world, that HE gave His only Begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM (nothing MORE, nothing LESS, and nothing ELSE!!!) shall not perish but have everlasting life!

Thus we first COME TO CHRIST believing for salvation, before we COMMIT TO FOLLOWING CHRIST IN RADICAL DISCIPLESHIP (Luke 9:23)

Jesus asks us to "COME UNTO ME, all ye that labor and are heavy laden" (Matthew 11:28), before He asks us to FORSAKE ALL and be willing to DIE FOR HIM! (Matt 10:28) . . .

. . . COMMANDING His Disciples to FEAR NOT them which kill the body!!

This is an important quality for missionaries . . . BUT IT IS NOT PART OF SALVATION . . . and RECEIVING THE GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE!

Understanding The Simple Word: "Believe!"

FACT! Check any dictionary, and Greek or Hebrew Lexicon, and the 200-plus references in the New Testament:

FACT: The word "BELIEVE" does NOT mean "turn from sin and follow Christ" . . . that is "REPENTANCE!" Now absolutely, BELIEVERS SHOULD DO THIS as they grow in Christ, but it is NOT a condition to Receive Christ's FREE GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE!"

FACT: The word "BELIEVE" does not mean "trust fully, rely upon, resting one’s whole weight upon the WORTH, WORD and WORK of Jesus Christ."

Now that is a "pretty statement" and those Born of God as "Babes on Christ (Peter calls them) should GROW on the pure milk of the Word.

PROVE TO YOURSELF the above definition of "BELIEVE!" is NOT correct!

Most likely you "BELIEVE" the Republicans or Democrats are BETTER able to govern then the other (as does this researcher)

However, your also most likely DO NOT BELIEVE in your "Preferred Party" as is stated above, to "trust fully, rely upon, resting one’s whole weight upon the WORTH, WORD and WORK of "your preferred party!"

Not this Bible Christian . . . neither party is trusted as far as I can throw them all combined with my bad arm!!!

This is the SIMPLICITY Apostle Paul FEARED WOULD BE CORRUPTED, just a simple but sincere belief that Jesus is the Christ!

THEN discipleship, resisting unto blood or even death, sacrificing all, obeying God rather than man, and MANY OTHER SCRIPTURES produce great rewards eternally . . .

. . . BUT LORDSHIP IS NOT REQUIRED FOR SALVATION!

We must not re-define saving faith to make it some kind of a supernatural, mysterious, non-defined, complicated, "work-requirement" for salvation. Justification is for the person who "worketh not, but believeth" (Romans 4:5).

Salvation is John 3:16, PLUS nothing, MINUS nothing, and nothing ELSE!

If you believe, you are as saved as can be, and as certain as already being there. God WINS the battle for the souls of this world! PLEASE read John 3:17!

God WANTS the world saved, that's why Christ died for ALL and Eternal Life is a FREE GIFT because of God's LOVE, MERCY and GRACE . . . UNEARNED and UNDESERVED!
