~ 77Kids – An American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. brand. Web site: “gift shop link” with “our perfect holiday shop WITH LOVE!” on homepage. Search yielded no mention of “Christmas” anywhere on site.

~ A.C. Moore Arts and Crafts – Web site: Uses “Christmas” colors and symbols but does not acknowledge “Christmas.” Site search revealed 438 other manufacturers’ “Christmas” items but A.C. Moore does not promote “Christmas.” Circulars “One stop Holiday Decorating.”

~ Albertsons – Web site: “Make This Holiday As Big As You Want” on home page. Profits from “Christmas” colors and symbols but “Christmas” search on sight yielded no mention of “Christmas.” Circular: “Your Holiday List for Less.”

~ aerie – An American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. brand. Web site: Although used red “Christmas” color and three items tagged “Christmas,” no mention of “Christmas” anywhere on site.

~ American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. – Web site: “Christmas” totally expunged from entire site. Search yielded no “Christmas” items.

~ American Girl – Web site: “FEATURED HIGHLIGHTS Order Christmas gifts by Dec. 10 to avoid rush shipping charges” link on home page. Otherwise, holiday was everywhere with only four items that mentioned “Christmas.”

~ Athleta – A Gap, Inc. brand. Web site: No mention of “Christmas.” Gap “Go Ho Ho” TV Commercial: Lighthearted but mentions several unrelated holidays. Company does not promote “Christmas” in stores or other advertisements.

~ Banana Republic – A Gap, Inc. brand. Web site: No mention of “Christmas.” Gap “Go Ho Ho” TV Commercial: Lighthearted but mentions several unrelated holidays. Company does not promote “Christmas” in stores or other advertisements.

~ Best Buy – Web site: No “Christmas” on home page and only one link “Guaranteed Christmas Delivery.” Search revealed 3,370 non-Best Buy manufacturers' “Christmas” items. Circular advertised a Muslim holiday during Thanksgiving weekend. In Store: Happy Holiday sign and decorated tree. Mumbled “you too” response from cashier when consumer wished him “have a Merry Christmas.”

~ Bloomingdale's – Web site: “Holiday Shop” and “Shop Holiday Gifts” on home page. “Christmas” search yielded one “Merry Christmas” gift card but no other mention of “Christmas.”

~ Comp USA – Web site: “Tech Toyland.” No mention of “Christmas” except items named by manufacturers.

~ CVS – Web site: no mention of “Christmas” except for items named by manufacturers.

~ Dick’s Sporting Goods – Web site: “Holiday Shop Must Haves.” No mention of “Christmas” on web site, in circulars or in stores.

~ Disney – Shopping site: “Holiday Shop” but no mention of “Christmas. ”

~ Dunham's Sports – Web site: “Holiday” theme but no mention of “Christmas” except for items named by manufacturers. Report: store said “They are not a Christmas store.”

~ Gap – Web site: No mention of “Christmas” but “Ready for Holiday Cheer” on home page. Search revealed four non-Gap manufacturers' items that included “Christmas.” “Go Ho Ho” TV Commercial: Lighthearted but mentions several unrelated holidays. Old Navy TV Commercial “Holidays in Hoodie” also lighthearted with Supermodelquins cheering “Merry Christmas” and other Christmas symbols; however, only one out of several Gap, Inc. commercials does not equate to “Christmas” promotion. Company does not promote “Christmas” in stores or other advertisements.

~ Garmin – Web site: No mention of “Christmas” on US site. Site search revealed only the Garmin blog used the word “Christmas” on prior years' advertisements for cash and car promotions. TV Commercial: Promoted “Google Local Search” and used Christmas symbols to profit from “Christmas” but was no mention of or promotion of “Christmas.”

~ Giant Eagle Pharmacy – Web site: “Holiday Gift Giving Guide,” “Holiday Delicious” and “Holiday” everywhere.

~ J. Crew Outfitters – Web site: “Very Merry Gift Guide” but no other mention of “Christmas.”

~ Kodak – Web site: “Holiday” primary theme. Tiny banner across bottom of home page “Make Personalized Holiday Cards in Minutes” linked to “Winter Holiday Photo Cards” page in Kodak Gallery. Search revealed “Christmas” cards embedded with other unrelated holiday cards. “Christmas Gift Guide” link turned out to be a “Holiday Gift Guide” page. TV Commercial: “Holiday” theme used against background music “We Wish You a Merry Christmas!”

~ KB – Web site: “To Receive by Dec. 25 ....” but no mention of “Christmas” in their “Holiday Toy Guide” other than manufacturers’ products.

~ Land's End – Web site: “Holiday Sale ...” on home page with “Holiday Gift Shop” section. No mention of “Christmas” and “Christmas” search revealed site tagged “Christmas” but referred to most items as holiday and / or used other non–“Christmas” related descriptions. Some products used “Christmas” in the name of the manufacturers' items but Land’s End did not promote “Christmas.”

~ Lane Bryant – “Holiday Wishes.” No other mention of “Christmas.”

~ Made in Washington Stores – Web site: “Holiday Gift Baskets” and “Artisan Chocolate Holiday Sale.” Only two mentions of “Christmas” on entire site: one is hidden in SHOP BY OCCASION pull-down menu on home page and second is when page accessed. Catalog: No mention of “Christmas” but “Holiday” everywhere.

~ Office Max – Web site: No mention of “Christmas” anywhere on site. Search discovered five items where “Christmas” was replaced with “Xmas.” Printed Circulars: No mention of “Christmas.” Again, the company seeks to profit off of “Christmas” by using “Christmas” colors, symbols and elves but no mention of “Christmas” anywhere.

~ Old Navy – A Gap, Inc. brand. Web site: No mention of “Christmas.” Instead, “This Week's Holiday Deals” and “Holiday Gift Guide 2009” appears on home page. Countdown “The Holiday Shopping Season Has Officially Begun!” Search revealed no “Christmas” items. “Holidays in Hoodie” TV Commercial: Lighthearted with Supermodelquins cheering “Merry Christmas” and other Christmas symbols; however, only one out of several Gap, Inc. commercials does not equate to “Christmas” promotion. Company does not promote “Christmas” in stores or other advertisements.

~ Piperlime – A Gap, Inc. brand. Web site: No mention of “Christmas.” Search revealed “Hmmm. We couldn't find “Christmas.” Did you mean "christa”? Gap “Go Ho Ho” TV Commercial: Lighthearted but mentions several unrelated holidays. Company does not promote “Christmas” in stores or other advertisements.

~ Plow & Hearth – Web site: “New for Holiday” link. Profits from “Christmas” colors and symbols but no mention of “Christmas.” “Christmas” search yielded 135 other manufacturers' “Christmas” items but Plow & Hearth does not promote “Christmas.” Consumer canceled $200 order and requested reason “Christmas” expunged from site but company could not provide response.

~ Roaman’s – Web site: “Give, Get, Gifted.” No mention of Christmas.

~ Sprint – Web site: “Tis the season to have it all.” No mention of Christmas.

~ Staples – Web site: “Gift It For Free.” “Christmas” search found a few items named only by manufacturers.

~ World Market – Web site: “Holiday Headquarters” and “Holiday Shop.” No mention of “Christmas.”
