Rick Warren on KORAN BURNING: Right, Wrong, or Confused?Most "well-known" Christian leaders condemned a Florida pastor who planned to burn copies of the Quran on the "9-11" anniversary, stating as a Scriptural Principle, "that Christians don't burn other religions' holy books." They pronounce this as an absolute truth, as God's Will, as a "blanket statement" for all people all times of all places. They make it seem very simple for Christians to know, What is God's Will Concerning "False Bibles?"> "False Bibles" teach people to worship false Gods, and to deny the Christ, the true God, the Cross and Salvation; > "False Bibles" teach people to blaspheme the One-and-Only, Virgin-Born, Begotten Son of Father God, which Son He gave for the world, the ONLY name under Heaven where by we MUST be saved;
It's as simple as the "separation of church and hate," said the Rev. Rick Warren, a California mega-church pastor who prayed at President Obama's inauguration. The following authorities agreed: > the National Association of Evangelicals, > the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue > the Southern Baptist leaders > all have issued similar statements leading up to Saturday's anniversary of the worst terrorist attack in American history. Rick Warren Philosophizes "Book burning is a cowardly act by those afraid that their beliefs aren't strong enough to attract people if they are allowed a choice," said Warren. === NewtonStein Commentary Warren gives no Scripture for his obviously "Politically Correct" position, but uses only logic. Warren completely ignores the FACTS as follows:
FACT-1: God burnt Sodom and Gomorrah, with all houses of worship and any "so-called" sacred documents about their gods, idols and worship;
I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly. Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; And they said, Stand back... And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door... 19:24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;
FACT-2: Moses burnt the "Golden Calf" and any "so-called" sacred documents about its worship; Exo 32:20 And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.
FACT-3: Importantly, Midian had some truth, as Jethro - father-in-law to Moses - knew Jehovah God, advised Moses, rejoiced in Israel escaping Egypt, and Midian was a son of Abraham by Keturah: however, they "mixed" Baal and Balaam with Jehovah and Abraham, and God said: Destroy them all! Nu 31:7-9 And they warred against the MIDIANites, as the LORD commanded Moses; and they slew all the males. And they slew the kings of MIDIAN, beside the rest of them that were slain; ... Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword. And the children of Israel took all the women of MIDIAN captives, and their little ones, and took the spoil of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods.
FACT-4: God commanded the idols, idol worshippers, houses of worship and any sacred writings there in, to be burned and utterly destroyed.
De 7:5 But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire. Deut 7:16 And thou shalt consume all the people which the LORD thy God shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shalt thou serve their GODS; for that will be a snare unto thee. [There is MUCH between these two verses!] Deut 7:25 The graven images of their GODS (whether a book like the Koran or other) shall ye burn with fire: ... for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God.
FACT-5: The great Revival under the Judge and Military Leader Gideon. God qualified him by having him destroy and burn his father's grove of idols, and use the wood to offer a sacrifice to Jehovah;
And build an altar unto the LORD thy God upon the top of this rock, in the ordered place, and take the second bullock, and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the grove which thou shalt cut down. Then Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as the LORD had said unto him: and so it was, because he feared his father's household, and the men of the city, that he could not do it by day, that he did it by night.
FACT-6: The great Revival under the Prophet Elijah was by burning all things sacred pertaining to false worship of BAAL, including their 850 prophets (450 prophets of BAAL, 400 prophets of the groves); 1 Kings 18:38-40 Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God. And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.
FACT-7: The great Revival under the Prophet Elisha was consummated by King Jehu, by burning all things sacred pertaining to false worship of BAAL, in a massive slaughter of leaders and followers alike; 2 Kings 10:25-28 And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, Go in, and slay them; let none come forth. And they smote them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the captains cast them out, and went to the city of the house of Baal. And they brought forth the images out of the house of Baal, and burned them. And they brake down the image of Baal, and brake down the house of Baal, and made it a draught house [Out-House] unto this day. Thus Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.
FACT-8: The great Revival under the Godly King Asa, was by burning all things sacred pertaining to false worship. 1 Kings 15:11-13 And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord, as did David his father. And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made. And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made. And also Maachah his mother, even her he removed from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove; and Asa destroyed her idol, and burnt it by the brook Kidron.
FACT-9: The great Revival under the Godly King Jehoshaphat was by burning all things sacred pertaining to false worship and getting the Sodomites out of the land. 1 Kings 22:45-46 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he shewed, and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 1ki 22:46 And the remnant of the sodomites,... he took out of the land.
FACT-10: The great Revival under the Godly King Hezekiah was by destroying all things sacred pertaining to false worship and 2 Chronicles 31:1 Now when all this was finished, all Israel that were present went out to the cities of Judah, and brake the images in pieces, and cut down the groves, and threw down the high places and the altars out of all Judah and Benjamin, in Ephraim also and Manasseh, until they had utterly destroyed them all.
FACT-11: The great Revival under the High Priest Jehoida, was by destroying all things sacred pertaining to false worship and 2 Kings 11:17 And Jehoiada made a covenant between the LORD and the king and the people, that they should be the LORD'S people; between the king also and the people. And all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and brake it down; his altars and his images brake they in pieces thoroughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the LORD... And all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was in quiet: and they slew Athaliah (queen) with the sword beside the king's house.
FACT-12: The great Revival under the Godly King Josiah, was by burning all things sacred pertaining to false worship and getting the sodomites out of the land. 2 Kings 23:4, 6-7 And the king (Josiah) commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the Lord all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Beth-el. And he brought out the grove from the house of the Lord, without Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder thereof upon the graves of the children of the people. And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the Lord,
===== 1. They occurred in times of moral darkness and national depression; 2. Each began in the heart of a consecrated servant of God who became the energizing power behind it; 3. Each revival rested on the Word of God, and most were the result of proclaiming God's Word with power; 4. All resulted in a return to the worship of God; 5. Each witnessed the destruction of idols and false worship where they existed; 6. In each revival, there was a recorded separation from sin; 7. In every revival the people returned to obeying God's laws; 8. There was a restoration of great joy and gladness; 9. Each revival was followed by a period of national prosperity. [SOURCE: Winkey Pratney Revival, p-13]. === Logic and reason are fantastic God given tools: HOWEVER,> God commands us to "Come now, Let us REASON together,..." Isa 1.18; > And the proper Greek Word for Jesus is the "Logos" or the "Logic" - Christ and His teachings are the purest and highest logic this word will ever know. However, logic and reason both are no better than the complete set of facts - properly interpreted - are based upon. Thus to be of any value whatsoever, "reasoning" must be done with "logic: that is "Truth-based." If NOT"Truth-based" logic used in reasoning, the reasoning will be in error - perhaps even deadly - and the logic perhaps fatally destructive. MODERN EXAMPLE: GLOBAL WARMING - Three Possibilities to Reason
LOGIC requires steps be taken to discover and reduce Global Warming causes, immediately - perhaps more strictly in the earliest years to limit the overall rise in temperature and seal level rise as much as possible. LOGIC also requires steps be taken to deal with whatever sea-level rise does occur whether it be 1-- feet, 75 feet, 50 feet, 25 feet or even 5-10 feet; it must be decided > what the risks are,
Possibly making the 'cure' so destructive to the economy that it becomes worse than the 'problem'; the responsibility of rich countries, poorer and third world nations - and those lands where the whole nation or island will be covered with water, etc. ALL of the reasoning will be wrong, if the logic is wrong, and the logic will be wrong if the facts - or their interpretation - are in error: thus not being "Truth-Based" - Logical decisions.
[SCENARIO-FACT-2] Global warming will produce a 100-foot rise in sea levels in 100 years, but it is caused 100% by Solar changes, and is NOT caused-by-human-activity: LOGIC for this situation would NOT require steps be taken to reduce human-based Global Warming causes, restrict carbon emissions etc., restrict the economy etc. LOGIC would still require steps be taken to deal with sea-level rise, what to move, where, when to start, etc.
ALL of this reasoning would be wrong, if the logic is wrong, and the logic will be wrong if the facts - or their interpretation - are in error: thus not being "Truth-Based" - Logical decisions. LOGIC, often can be in error different ways: (LOGIC ERROR-1) The LOGIC for this situation could be in error by thinking the ONLY solution is to move all cities below the 100 foot sea level rise predicted. The cost of moving major cities could amount to $1,000,000 per house hold. Perhaps a better, less expensive, quicker, easier and with more flexibility would be to consider houseboat - yacht-type living, like "upscale houseboat living" - a little like those in Southeast Asia, etc. This could be started immediately in New Orleans, and the people could be given a $333, 000 dollar yacht - instead of $1,000,000 to move and rebuild whole cities. Then the people would have the option to sell their yacht to someone inland - who always wanted a yacht, say for $275,000, giving the new yacht purchaser a great incentive to buy. Then the person selling the yacht could take that money, and move inland to where ever grandma lives, etc. and get a better house than they had in their "soon-to-be-flooded-city" - if they didn't want to live on a yacht full time: Literally every body would win and get what they want - without the government coercion and extra expense of "forced Moving" buying new property and developing the infrastructure, etc. (LOGIC ERROR-2) The LOGIC for this situation could also be in error if the facts - or interpretation - are in error, and 75 years into "the 100-feet se level rise in 100 years" and it is learned the whole Global Warming problem is ALL human activity induced! And there could be other types of error in Logic, and for sure errors would be made in the "reasoning process of who, what, where, when, how much, who pays, etc., etc., etc,. That's why it is said "Looking ahead is "through a glass darkly" but hindsight is 20/20! [SCENARIO-FACT-3] Global warming - as it is proposed in 2010 - is 100% a "Political Football" and a completely a wrong interpretation of misunderstood facts: that there will be NO rise in sea levels in 100 years: PERIOD! Suppose there were no Global warming at all beyond normal cycles and sea level rise at all, that the "apparent sea level rises" from decade to decade in many coastal areas, was actually a case of "subsidence" - that is something like a massive type of sink hole coastal regions often have . . . . . . except rather than the deep sinkhole of a small region, the subsidence was for a much larger region (perhaps near state sized) and only was "sinking an inch a decade." Amazingly . . . this seems to be occurring, whether Global Warming is or not!ACTUALLY, for every coastal city that SEEMS to have rising sea levels - or SINKING SHORELINES - there are other coastal areas that are rising, not unlike the younger mountains of the Earth are still slowly rising over time. OBVIOUSLY, if Scenario-3 is determined to be the "Truth" - then the logical things to do and the reasonable way to do them would be RADICALLY DIFFERENT from either of the first two scenarios! Conclusion: Logic must be "TRUTH-BASED" to be accurate!
