AMERICAN FLAG DRAPE LEFT

Last night was big for Sarah Palin. Speaking at Indiana's Vanderburgh County Right to Life dinner, the Alaska governor embraced her role as "the Unofficial Leader" of the "Republican Party", of "Pro-Life-Opponents of Abortion" and amazingly, of "American Bible Christians" more fully now that she is loyally bound to be under the McCain Campaign umbrella.

Sarah Palin drew approximately 8,000 people to the Vanderburgh County Right to Life fund-raising dinner in Evansville, an annual banquet. Her sold-out appearance in the largest local exhibition hall . . . (recall Obama's crowds were all free spectators - this one cost cold-hard-cash!)

. . . prompted organizers to set up a "pay-to-get-in" closed-circuit broadcast at a nearby auditorium . . .

. . .and still there was a large spillover crowd which led local authorities to close down nearby streets.

There was yet another crowd in another overflow room waiting hopefully to greet her on the way out of the hall. Sarah Palin and Todd, class-folk that they are, addressed the overflow crowd for a while and thanked them for their support.

“There was a lot of excitement about this among pro-life people. Sarah Palin is very well-known and respected in the pro-life movement” said David O’Steen, executive director of National Right to Life.

Sarah Palin was mobbed by autograph seekers and picture takers as she tried to get into the fundraiser.

Jane Abraham, the general chairwoman of the Susan B. Anthony List, a group that supports female politicians who oppose abortion rights, called the dinner a “very high-profile event” for opponents of abortion rights.

“It’s very exciting that she is doing this," Abraham said. “It’s very refreshing to me as someone who has been involved in the pro-life movement for a long time.”

The Alaska governor Sarah Palin received a warm reception from Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, also in attendance, at a news conference ahead of the dinner.

“I think Sarah Palin is a standard-bearer right now,” Steele said. “She and Mike Huckabee, Gov. Bobby Jindal, and Gov. Pawlenty, Gov. Sanford, Rudy Giuliani, Eric Cantor, Mitt Romney Mike Pence. We have a significant number of men and women in our party who are in a very good position right now to carry forward the standard of the GOP.”

Sarah Palin received standing ovations through her speech.

Upon taking the stage, Sarah Palin criticized President Barack Obama's position on abortion and stem cell research. She chided the president's campaign trail response to a question from Pastor Rick Warren about when life begins, saying that the answer was not above her pay grade.

Palin will attend a second fundraiser Friday morning for S.M.I.L.E., a support organization for family members of people who have Down syndrome. The governor traveled to Indiana with her husband Todd and youngest son, Trig, who will attend the S.M.I.L.E. event.

“The governor personally received and accepted this invitation. I don't need to tell you that this personal and quick trip to Indiana reflects who she is,” said Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton to those who criticized Sarah Palin for leaving Alaska.

“Tonight is a celebration of life, and tomorrow morning is a celebration of Trig's life along with other families blessed with special-needs children. We are all thrilled to be here.”

AMERICAN FLAG DRAPE LEFT

Sarah Palin spoke more movingly and more personally about her opposition to abortion, revealing her own momentary thoughts with contemplating abortion last year after discovering she was pregnant with a child with Down syndrome.

To conservative Christians, this understanding of how non-Christian, non-principled people give into the easy and quick way out - and her Christian resistance - gives Palin a redemption narrative that supplies her credibility on abortion. To see this powerful testimony, watch this clip:

Beyond unveiling this redemption narrative, Sarah Palin's speech brimmed with overtly Christian themes and imagery to an extent unknown in her speeches as a vice presidential candidate. If Palin runs for president, we now have a good idea about the kind of Christian candidate she'll most likely be. The faith-based highlights from Palin's address last night:

On Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele Sarah Palin said: He, the blessing of a teenage mom . . . she selflessly gave him up for adoption. She chose life for him. What a providential series of events that has brought you to where you are today. Challenges since before you were even born. And surely there's purpose in every single step that has brought you to where you are.

On being invited to the Vanderburgh County Right to Life dinner:

We got invited some months ago to attend, and I said, "Oh, man." I've got some adversaries up here in my state, and they're going to crucify me if I say yes to traveling outside the state of Alaska.

Some Sarah Palin Quotes from her speech:

AMERICAN FLAG DRAPE LEFT

Sarah Palin on God and Creation:

Now I want you to invite you to Alaska said Sarah Palin, to God's country . . . Anyone who goes there can't deny the hand of the Creator in that state. . . .

Sarah Palin on God and Evergy:

It seems that God just dumped his stores of oil and gas out there . . . millions of barrels and hundreds of trillions of cubic feet of natural gas that I believe he intended for us to develop and to use to better our world.

Sarah Palin on her child with Down syndrome, Trig:

"Trig . . . is our gift from God." Palin said the challenges she faced during her pregnancy gave her an opportunity to live out her anti-abortion beliefs.

Sarah Palin on her sincerity of Christian beliefs:

"I had to ask myself, 'Was I going to walk the walk or was I just going to talk the talk?'" she recalled. "It is easy to think maybe of trying to change the circumstances."

Sarah Palin on her prayer life:

She said she prayed often during her pregnancy, especially after tests revealed her son would be born with the condition.

Sarah Palin on her child with Down syndrome, Trig:

But she called her son "a miracle. He is the best thing that ever happened to me and I want other women to have that opportunity."

AMERICAN FLAG DRAPE LEFT

Sarah Palin calls Christians to work for life:

"Life is ordained, life is precious," Sarah Palin said, and asked the crowd to keep working for the "culture of life" in America.

Sarah Palin on God, life and purpose:

He's proven to me beyond a shadow of a doubt that every innocent life does have purpose and there is not an accident.

Sarah Palin on God, life, perfection and value:

And I'm going to choose the Creator's idea of perfection over society's definition of perfection any day.

Sarah Palin on Providence & Founding Fathers:

America's forefathers founded this great nation in powerful words in America's Declaration of Independence. They read in part like a holy text. . . .

Sarah Palin on Providence, Founding Fathers and Life:

Providentially and with so much wisdom, our Founding Fathers wrote that life is valuable because it is ordained and not utilitarian. . . .

AMERICAN FLAG DRAPE LEFT

“And I’m going to choose the Creator’s idea of perfection over society’s definition of perfection any day.”

Sarah Palin on Life Created in the Image of God:

I know for sure my son is perfect just as he is, and I do believe he is made in the image of God.

Sarah Palin on keeping her latest pregnancy secret until the last minute:

It was a sweet, sacred time, a secret between Todd and God and me.

Sarah Palin on learning she was pregnant at age 44:

Plus, I was old, and I thought, oh, very funny, God — my name is Sarah, but my husband is not Abraham. It's Todd. And just like Sarah of old, I too—I laughed.

Sarah Palin on trusting God:

In my moments of doubt that I just went through a year ago with these different steps, I clung to a faith that taught me that I could meet the challenges, that we won't be given anything that we can't handle.

Sarah Palin on faith and it's importance:

And really, at times, that faith was all I had.

Could you share your State of Salvation that we may better serve our readers?

At this time, I do not believe Jesus is the Saviour!

I do believe Jesus is the Saviour and I know I have eternal Life!

I do not believe it is possible to 'Know in this life' if one has Eternal Life.
