SALVATION! SAVED WHEN? SAVED HOW? SAVED BY WHOM? SAVED WHY?

If you are "SAVED" . . .

"WHEN" were you saved, by WHOM were you saved, "WHY", by WHAT means, and WHERE?

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

PREFACE:

This little teaching on being "Saved" has nothing to do with Methodists, Churches of Christ, Catholics, Baptists, Pentecostals or Presbyterians, but is all about a deeper understanding of our great Father God, and His role in our salvation. It will be quite surprising for some, initially disturbing for others, shocking to many, while others weep with joy . . . and finally of great spiritual power to all.

There is no substitute for a better understanding of God and heavenly things.

ABSTRACT:

If you are "SAVED" . . . WHEN were you saved, by WHOM were you saved, WHY were you saved, by WHAT means were you saved, and WHERE were you saved?

Since we live in what we call the "real world" - we don't always think of the "Spirit world" of the "Divine Realm". We seldom attempt to "think-things-through" from Heaven's Throne looking to Earth, Because we live in the physical realm of our five senses - sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell, we are geared to the physical.

Even more so, we live in our own mind, our perceptions and understandings, and it takes powerful, purposeful effort to "see" from God's Perspective as Scripture factually reveals.

How then, do we actually get saved?

Our "flesh" pulls one way, "reason" pulls another way, "knowledge of God" pulls another, "selfishness" another; sometimes sin's "fear" of getting caught - or becoming known - pulls another way, what salvation "may cost" us in the "unknown future" weighs heavily . . . and it seems we fight these great battles over discipline and temptation - finally deciding - sometimes after great anguish of soul.

Some people are pleaded with to "come forward and make a decision for Christ" by a song such as "Almost Persuaded", "Just As I Am", or "Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling" - and in many traditions - with spouse, parents, children, or friends; pleading, pulling, and begging one to come forward, begging one to kneel and pray . . . and perhaps then give personal testimony of belief, salvation and commitment . . .

. . . then celebrate with 'hugs and hand-shakes' all around with everyone singing "There's A New Name Written Down in Glory!" Baptism by immersion may or may not follow immediately . . . depending on what the "Newly Saved" person decides. The New Convert is told they have just been "Born-Again" - born into God's Family and Kingdom, and are now a "Babe in Christ Jesus."

All of these experiences are valid. Yet there is another perspective to "getting saved" - God's Perspective! Where was Father God in your salvation experience?

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

END OF ABSTRACT

INTRO:

WHEN were you saved, by WHOM were you saved, WHY were you saved, by WHAT means, and WHERE?

Although answering these questions could be a huge set of books, we will keep it very brief. They also could be answered from almost every book of the Bible, but we will primarily use one little book for simplicity's sake, Ephesians, so the answers can easily be re-read and re-studied in seeking to grasp the great magnitude of spiritual impact.

QUESTION [1] WHEN were you saved?

Many millions of evangelical Christians can give you the time and place of their "New Birth" experience: when they were Born-Again. They know exactly when they were saved, and so it appears to be, in our "sense knowledge existence", comprehending all things within the conscious understanding of our rational minds.

However, Almighty God - from the vantage point of Eternity - sees and understands Salvation quite differently than we humans understand what seems to be "carried out here on Earth".

When are we saved according to Almighty God? Ephesians answers:

Eph 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

Eph 1:4 According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love:

The Revelation corresponds this amazing truth:

Rev 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the 'foundation of the world', ..."

Rev 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain, from the foundation of the world.
[See other translations in FOOTNOTE [1] Below]

However difficult it may be for us to grasp why, and how this could be, it is "Indisputable!" . . . that our names went into the Book of Life BEFORE the foundation of the world,. . .

. . . and those who worship idols, the beast, and similar sins, that their names were left out of the Book of Life from the Foundation of the world.

FACT: According to God, as He sees salvation, we were saved before the foundation of the world!

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

QUESTION [2] By WHOM were you saved?

Some Christians may answer "by Billy Graham", or name the preacher who was preaching, or the soul Winner who presented the gospel to them - and these are fine answers from the human understanding of things - but once again - God sees from Eternity, and He tells us clearly as follows:

Let us consider the same Scriptures as before, looking at the "WHO" instead of the "WHEN".

Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

Eph 1:4 According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love:

Eph 1:6 To the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the Beloved.

Eph 2:4-5 But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, [He] hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

Eph 2:6 And [He] hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

Surely you know over 1,000 more Scriptures could be given to show Father God saves us through His Son, so we wont belabor the point. In fact, the very name Jehovah (Yahweh) means "God saves" and Jesus (Yeshua) means "The Saviour."

FACT: We were saved by God the Father, in Christ the Son, though the Holy Spirit.

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

QUESTION [3] "WHY" were you saved?

Many will answer something like the following: "That's a simple question: because I don't want to go to hell when I die."

Some say because their life was a mess, that they had tried many things that didn't satisfy, and hit "rock bottom" and with no where else to go, then turned to Jesus.

Others decided they wanted their life to "Count for God", and others feel that "they owe" their life to Christ, since He gave His life for their sins: so the "WHY" of getting saved is different for different people . . . or so it seems.

Again, God sees it quite differently. Let us begin with familiar Scriptures:

Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

Eph 1:4 According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

Eph 1:5-6 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to 'the good pleasure of His Will', To the praise of the glory of His grace,

Eph 1:9 Having made known unto us the mystery of 'His will', according to 'His good pleasure' which He hath 'purposed in Himself':

Eph 1:11-12 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the 'purpose of Him' who worketh all things after the 'Counsel of His own Will:' That we should be to the praise of His glory,

Fellow Christian, do you see the great preeminence of "God's Will" . . . "God's Purpose" . . . "God's Counsel" . . . and "God's OWN Will?"

While we only 'observe' this world, and when we only study 'day-to-day life' from our Earthly perspective, it is very possible - and usually happens - that we completely miss "God's Will, Counsel and Purpose" for all things in the Universe - including our life - from the foundation of the world!

FACT: Our lives are NOT about our will, our purpose, and our counsel, but rather they are 100% about "God's Will, God's Counsel and God's Purpose" for all things.

Neither is "Our" life about "Our" pleasure, but rather as Ephesians 1:5 and 1:9 above show us, "Our" lives are all about "God's Pleasure!"

Thus it is NOT about us and our will at all - NONE of it! It is ALL about God and His Will, ALL of the time! We do get to choose whether to obey, answer God's Calli according to His Purpose, but we have no choice whatsoever in our designed purpose.

FACT: We CANNOT decide what we want to be in life!

FACT: We CAN discover what God designed us to do in life!

The Revelation also makes the importance of "God's Pleasure" very clear:

Revelation 4:11 "Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for Thou hast created all things, and for Thy Pleasure they are, and were created."

King Solomon gives us further great insight in Proverbs 16.4

"The LORD hath made all things for Himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil."

Philippians 2:13 "For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure."

There are literally over 100 more Scriptures could be given, showing WHY we were saved.

FACT: "WHY" we were saved is because:

> > God the Father,

> > personally chose us to be in Him,

> > according to the Good Pleasure,

> > of His Own Will,

> > according to His Own Counsel. . . .

> > and He did this before the foundation of the world.

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

QUESTION [4] By "WHAT" means were you saved?

Most Christians will answer that God used Preaching (or witnessing), prayers of family or Church, upbringing by parents, etc., to save them.

Other will say they thought about it long and hard. Some will have looked at all the religions of the world before deciding upon Christianity, while others will say "they finally repented of their sins because they felt so guilty."

Many in the Western World will say they had a certain faith in Christ for years - maybe even from Sunday School - or that they grew up listening to a TV or radio preacher, or simply watching their parents, or learned faith from a Christian friend.

Again: All of these are valid answers and are accurate from a human perspective, but are far from God's understanding of how one gets saved, and by what means:

First, recall that "He Himself CHOSE you" to salvation before the foundation of the world.

Ephesians 1:4 According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love:

Eph 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself -

- according to the good pleasure of His will,

Eph 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of Him,

Who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

See that God very plainly calls this "predestination". . . and it very simply means exactly what is says: God predestinated us to salvation.

So sadly, the term "predestination" is almost equal to profanity by many Ministers today - and your preacher probably hasn't taught on it recently (if ever) - but your Bible deals with it simply, clearly, and in a straight-forward manner.

Deceitfully, many ministers simply ignore predestination - as if this will make it go away! - pretending if it is not a clear, plain, powerful, oft-repeated teaching of God.

Other Ministers sound like "modern politicians" dancing around issues they don't want to admit to or deal with, doing their best to "spin" them away.

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

GOOD NEWS!

Predestination is NOT evil, as many modernists claim: Predestination is God's great love in action!

Neither is it a ruthless, hard-core, treat-people-like-robots, or make them instinctive like animals - cats meow, dogs bark, etc.,

Example of Predestination with Humans:

As the father of four sons, I "predestinated" all of my sons to the following:

(1) to be deeply loved,
(2) to be provided for in all ways, at all times,
(3) to be protected - even if it took my life to do it,
(4) to learn to read, write, and do math and science well, and especially to grow up reading and studying God's Word!
(5) to know Jesus died for their sins from their earliest memories,
(6) to respect authority of parents, Church, grandparents, teachers, coaches, police, etc.,
(7) to be well-behaved and mannerly, use good language, etc.,
(8) to have a great childhood, even though disciplined,
(9) to have a loving family and church family,
(10) to get a great education with wonderful opportunities, understanding life, law, government and our responsibility as Christians to our community, nation, and world,
(11) to eat right, exercise, and be healthy,
(12) to be very hard-working, always disciplined, always diligent, pursuing excellence, and as productive as possible,

To these things and even more, I "predestined my sons" with ALL of my might!

And with all of my money, intellect, influence, ability, acceptable coercion, physical chastening when needed, rewarding when appropriate, the pre-planned influence of others properly chosen, . . .

. . . with every prayer and every ounce of my being . . . I was determined to see that these were carried out in their lives to great detail!

No doubt you predestined your children as well!!! We Christian parents PREDESTINE our children naturally - BECAUSE - we are created in the image and likeness of Father God and it comes automatically!

Why did we predestine them? Because we wanted to ruthless rule and ruin their lives and remove all personal joy?

QUITE THE OPPOSITE!

Rather, because we love our children more than words can express!

Now let me ask.

When we parents so predestine our children, and 30 years later they have turned out to be the finest of young persons in Godly values and good behaviour . . . even better than we had dared hope or even pray for . . .

> > Does this "rob us" of joy as parents - since we predestined them so carefully . . . and didn't allow them to freely choose these "values" on their own?

Not at all!

> > Does this "rob them" of joy as individuals - since they were predestined - and greatly influenced and encouraged in their accomplishments - and didn't freely choose and achieve them 100% on their own?

Not in the least!

To the contrary, when we see our beloved children turn out like we have striven and prayed and wept for decades, it brings the greatest possible joy . . .

. . . a far greater that if we had sent them off to live in some boarding school or the streets, going through all kinds of sin and vice, allowing them to make all decisions without a bit of loving parental advice . . . even if they had turned out well because of a close friend or mentor!

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

So it is with our Father God!

Instead of robbing God of great pleasure - simply because He awakens us to sin, speaks through our conscience, and influences with His Holy Spirit, etc., etc., programs experiences, events, people and places, etc., . . . He tells us plainly that He predestines this FOR our good and His Pleasure!

* * The problem is NOT that God predestinates,

* * The problem is that we greatly misunderstand predestination!

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

Let's Look at a few Scriptures

Ephesians 1:4 According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love:

Eph 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,

Eph 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of Him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

Rom 8:29 For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son,

Rom 8:30 Moreover whom He did predestinate them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them He also glorified.

Predestination is also called "Election" (selection) of God, and often simply "the Elect" (Select) as Romans explains with Jacob and Esau.

Romans 9:11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the 'purpose of God according to election' might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) Rom 9:12 It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.

Rom 9:13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

Please don't struggle with this right now, as it seems very harsh, strange and unfair indeed - BIT IT ONLY "SEEMS" HARSH!

Please accept God's Word, the amazing truth as Scripture presents here, and in literally 1,000 Scriptures from Adam to Christ Himself . . . who came NOT to do His own, but was predestined to do the Father's Will, according to His purpose . . .

. . .Jesus simply saying: "for this cause (purpose) was I born, and for this cause, came I into the world".

First we must

> (a) know the clear and simple facts of Scripture,

> (b) accept as they are given without "twisting their clear, simple meaning" to fit our modern warped-&-wimpy view of God, salvation and of His whole purpose for humanity.

> (c) Then we can began to seek understanding according to His Word.

Suffice to say for now:

God clearly, and unmistakably, and indisputably, tells us plainly:

> > "All whom God foreknew, (and how many did He foreknow?)

> > them He did predestinate!"

You've known this verse as long as you can remember:

Romans 8:29 For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate . . . .

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

So our first means of getting saved is to know that "God Himself CHOSE us" to Salvation before the foundation of the world: clear, simple, absolute, and indisputable predestination, repeated again and again and again, BECAUSE He first loved us!

You may not understand how it can in anyway be fair (will you PLEASE just accept this truth for now, learn what Scripture says, and work on the understanding later?)

We promise:

If you'll extend to God the DIVINE RIGHT to chose, elect, and predestinate WHOMEVER He chooses after the purpose, counsel and good pleasure of His Own will . . . we promise He will reward your "submissive heart" with a blessed understanding, as wonderful and blessed as wisdom can be on this Earth!

However, knowing how tempted you are to cling to the commonly accepted traditional way that "seemeth right unto man . . ." we'll give you another Scriptural jolt:

Rom 9:14 What shall we say then, Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.

Rom 9:15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

Rom 9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

Rom 9:17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.

Rom 9:18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom He will have mercy, and whom He will He hardeneth.

Rom 9:19 Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth He yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?

Rom 9:20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God?

Shall the thing formed say to Him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

Rom 9:21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, 'of the same lump' to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

Good friend:

Even though accepting God's predestination - God's choosing before the foundation of the world, the having mercy and all the rest, because of human experience in the present tense, most Christians still think they were the one's:

> > who awakened their conscience to sin and righteousness,

> > who repented because they were truly sorry of their sins,

> > who honestly 'found faith' toward Christ as Saviour,

> > and who "received Jesus" as their Saviour, personally;

To this we can honestly say: "Been there - Done that!"

God does not at all deny our experience, and from the human perspective, it truly seems to be that we human beings - with heart, soul, mind, and even one's flesh - is completely and vigorously engaged in this "major life decision" of salvation.

Yet we are compelled to look our salvation from God's perspective, and His vantage point of eternity past, if we want to understand God, to "know Him" as Paul urged, and also better understand everything about our life and world from prophecy to prosperity.

Let us look at these four "means used"

(1) One's Conscience awakened to sin and righteousness.

It certainly seems as if "we" are awakening ourselves as we begin to feel guilty about that which had been enjoyed: "pleasures of sin for a season". One remembers thinking more and more about the sin, realizing it was willful, sinful and in violation of God's Word. It sure seemed like "we" were doing all the struggling, wrestling with sin and what to do about it.

However, from God's perspective, it is God's instigating it all. In fact, we had nothing to do with our awakening. Not only did we have nothing to do with it, we were completely incapable of having anything to do with it, because from God's Perspective: we were spiritually dead!

Not just dull, blind or asleep but DEAD!

Please note that "Dead people" do not awaken, respond, sense their condition, ponder their plight, or have any ability to do anything. Spiritually dead people are likewise completely dead, and it is God who "supernaturally "quickens" us - which is to make alive.

Eph 2:1 And you hath He quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

Eph 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, [He] hath quickened us together with Christ, (by 'grace' ye are saved;)

John 5:21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. John 6:63 It is the Spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing:

Col 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath He quickened

FACT: Thus we had nothing to do with our "quickening" (awakening), as we were "dead" in trespasses and sins.

(2) Surely, once quickened, it almost goes without saying that our awakened "conviction" of sin is not by us, but by the Holy Spirit, making us truly sorry for sins.

John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

John 16:8 And when He is come, "He will reprove" the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Note Jesus guarantees the Holy Spirit WILL reprove for sin and righteousness and judgement. Jesus didn't say His Holy Spirit would "try" to reprove us, convict us or awaken us, but that He would do this!

FACT: Thus we had nothing to do with our "reproving", as we had been "dead" in trespasses and sins, and then once awakened, were being reproved, convicted and "guided into all Truth".

(3) Surely, once quickened and reproved, it was "we alone" who repented of our sins.

Once again, though it truly appears so from the human perspective and experience, from God's perspective, it was not us who initiated repentance.

We get some clues in Acts, then like a bombshell it is dropped on us in Romans:

Acts 11:18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles 'granted' repentance unto life.

Romans 2:4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

2 Corinthians 7:10 For godly (God-given) sorrow worketh repentance to salvation.

2 Timpthy 2:25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

Once again, though it seems like it is "all us" - sorrowing, repenting, and feeling guilt and conviction, in reality we see that it is "all God" . . . that He is "leading us by His goodness to repentance, that He "grants repentance" and "literally gives repentance" to us.

Oppositely, for those who are NOT elected, NOT predestined, and NOT chosen in Him before the foundation of the world, they can do "all the right things" . . . yet God does not grant repentance.

Look at this very sad Scripture.

Heb 12:17 For ye know how that afterward, when he [Esau] would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

It is commonly understood that anyone who repents is "automatically forgiven",

. . . but this ignores plain Scripture.

See what Peter says:

Acts 8:22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, 'if perhaps' the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.

Sinners are often told the following by well meaning preachers and soul winners:

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

However, this "precious and popular promise is to the "Children of God" when they sin . . . not to rebellious and heathen pagans who have not been awakened to that fact that they are "Sinners [NOTE: A sinner in the Biblical Greek is one 'who is DEVOTED to sin, wants to sin and tries hard to sin; it is NOT God's children who err in testing].

Many who "seem" to repentant are NOT sorry they are sinners devoted to sinning, but 'only' sorry they got caught! Being sorry one got caught is not the repentance God leads one to and thus like Esau above, these are not forgiven.

There was not the least evidence Esau was sorry for being devoted to sinning in life - bit only that he had lost his birthright - thus he lives the rest of his life, 'still' devoted to sinning. Thus he was NOT forgiven.

Thus Peter urged Simon the Sorcerer to repent, and pray and see "if perhaps" God would forgive his sinful heart.

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

FACT: Thus we had nothing to do with our coming to "repentance", as it was God who was leading us to repentance, granting repentance, and giving grace in mercy, and forgiving our being a sinner, because of His Goodness.

Thus God gets all the praise for His saving us, rather than we getting praise for our goodness in coming to God and seeking Him! Surely you see the difference!

> > Praising God for our Eternal Salvation, that He devised, He planned, and He gave, Him seeking us out, whom He awakened, and He drawed, and He led to repentance, His spirit guiding us into all Truth, because He first loved us, calls for eternal thanksgiving!

> > Praising ourselves because WE were so good, and WE were so spiritual, and WE were so wise, and we ere so much better and smarted than our peers, that WE sought God, and WE repented because OUR conscience is so superior, that We required God to forgive us,. . .

. . . thus WE are so deserving of Eternal life - which God OWES us for our goodness . . . so we say to our family: "Praise me! See how Spiritual and wonderful I am!" and WE "testify" to our own great commitment!

Though we may not use these words, this is what our "self-righteous" testifying on our seeking God, our praying through, our sorrow and repentance, our making restitution, and our strong commitment is really saying. Blasphemy!

FACT: We did NOT repent on our own. The goodness of God leads us to repentance!

Rom 2:4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

2 Cor 7:10 For godly (God-given) sorrow worketh repentance to salvation.

2 Tim 2:25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

Acts 11:18 When they heard these things, ... and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles 'granted' repentance unto life.

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

(4) Though our quickening, reproving of sin, leading to truth and granting of repentance may have been all God, it surely was us who personally had to 'have faith' - find faith, exercise faith, and/or develop faith, or even take 'a leap of faith' - toward Christ as Saviour.

Once again, though it truly appears to be this way from the human perspective and experience, from God's perspective, it was not us who initiated, developed, found, exercised, or even 'took a leap of faith to Jesus Christ!

Like the previous parts of salvation, it was all God, so He deserves the greatest praise, all the credit, and all the Glory. This is the "opposite" of our human nature, which wants to think of our self so highly in the matter of our personal faith toward Christ, but we ought not to, not at all!

Read Paul's shocking explanation:

Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man 'the measure of faith'.

Faith is a gift God gives to every man as we just read. Faith is a gift, a "gift of the Holy Spirit" given initially for salvation and can be granted for greater works ministry.

1 Cor 12:1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.

1 Cor 12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

1 Cor 12:9 To another faith by the same Spirit;

2 Cor 4:13 We having the same spirit of faith,

Paul makes it clear below that it is not "human faith in Jesus" that justifies - though we may have faith in Him - but rather the faith 'of' Jesus, that which He gives, that originates in and from Him. that which He "Authors-&-Finishes":

Gal 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith 'of' Jesus Christ, even we have believed 'in' Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith 'of' Christ,

Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith 'of' the Son of God,

Scripture is also clear that we are not living spiritually by our "human faith in Christ" - but rather by the supernatural faith 'of' the Son of God who lives in us!

Gal 3:22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith 'of' Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

Again, saving faith is not human faith we develop, exercise, drum-up or leap onto . . . but rather it is the gift "of" God, it "came" by God, it had been "shut up" and corresponds to the "grace and truth" that came by Jesus Christ. Grace, truth and faith all existed in the Old Covenant but NOT in the great and wonderful way of the New Testament.

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

Paul continues to the Galatians:

Gal 3:23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

Gal 3:25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that (faith) not of yourselves: it (faith) is the gift 'of' God: (not 'in' God)

Eph 3:12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith 'of' him.

Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield 'of' faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Eph 6:23 Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father . . .

1 Tim 1:14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith

Tit 1:1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect,

Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;

Note very simply, Jesus is the 'author' (initiator, originator) and 'finisher' (completer, carrying-out) of "OUR FAITH!"

Jesus is not just the 'Author and Finisher' of His faith, but of "our faith" - He gives it to us, it is of Him, from Him, His gift, and He has dealt to all of us the measure of faith";

This faith was shut up until Christ came, but after Christ came, it is now given to us - this "same spirit of faith" - whereby we are "justified"!

Please note that faith is a bit more complex than some aspects of Christianity, as faith is the only Christian entity that is

> > both a 'gift of the Spirit' (as in I Cor 12:9 above),

> > and is also 'fruit of the Spirit' (Gal 5:22),

Ga 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

For more on 'faith' See FOOTNOTE [2]

FACT: We had nothing to do with our being "dealt the measure of justifying faith" that saved us. It followed the quickening, reproving, repenting, and is accompanied by the grace of salvation.

1 Tim 1:14 And the grace of our Lord [for by Grace are ye saved] was exceeding abundant with faith

FACT: We did NOT originate, initiate, or "author" our own faith and we will not "finish it". Jesus is both "Author and Finisher" and He dealt it to us by measure.

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

(5) In spite of God supernaturally saving us, from choosing us in election and predestination, to quickening reproving and leading to repentance by His goodness, to dealing us the measure of justifying faith, surely the "receiving of these gifts and Christ Himself is of our choice and will, as most Christians remember when they "received Christ" as Saviour.

Let's see what Scripture says on this matter. Thankfully, it is abundantly clear:

John 1:11 He [Jesus] came unto His own, and His own received Him not.

John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God (by new birth), even to them that believe on His name:

Surely this verse is teaching it is human wisdom and goodness to "receive Christ", and His Divine responsibility to "give power to become His child" to those who do. The answer is "Yes . . . if we take this verse out of contest, and ignore the rest of the sentence!

John 1:13 Which were born (spiritually), not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

It may seem like our "New Birth" is of the will of us humans, but it is NOT: the New Birth is not at all by of the will of man, but of God.

It may seem like "receiving" is a human thing - whether quickening, reproving conviction, being led to repentance, or being dealt the measure of faith as a gift of the Holy Spirit - but let us see what Scripture teaches:

John 3:27 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.

John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

The world cannot receive anything of the Spirit of God until they have first been quickened, convicted, led to repentance, dealt a measure of faith - all by grace and mercy through faith, which is a gift of the Spirit of Truth - whom the world cannot receive.

In fact, John makes it very clear:

"A person can receive NOTHING except it be given from Heaven!" John 3:27

Mat 19:11 But He [Jesus] said unto them, All men cannot 'receive' this saying, save [except] they to whom it is given.

Mat 19:12 ... He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.

1 Cor 2:14 But the natural man 'receiveth not' the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

As Jesus teaches, it must be given to us in order for us to receive it, thus we are back to election, God's choosing according to the good pleasure of His own will, and His own counsel.

Paul further makes it clear that we are NOT to glory in that which has been given to us to receive supernaturally.

1 Cor 4:7 For who maketh thee to differ from another? And what hast thou that thou didst not 'receive'?

Now if thou didst 'receive' it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

FACT: We did not receive Christ by our own choosing, goodness, wisdom or will, but rather, only after "the measure of justifying faith" allowed us to be "spiritually discerning to recognize and receive that - and ONLY that which had been given us from above - which followed the quickening and God's goodness leading us, as His Chosen and predestinated Children to be conformed to the image of His dear son!

Realizing that these things which "seemed" to be or human origin are not at all, but rather are all of God, not let us look at Grace:

Note in these first Scriptures that our salvation is either by

> > works

> > grace

> > (Grace being God's 'unearned' and 'undeserved' favor, which He does because He loves and He desires to; according to His Good Pleasure and counsel of His Own Will.)

Rom 11:6 And if by Grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise GRACE is no more Grace.

But if it be of works, then is it no more Grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Eph 1:6 To the praise of the glory of his Grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

Eph 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his Grace;

Eph 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by Grace ye are saved;) Eph 2:7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his Grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

Eph 2:8 For by

> Grace are ye saved

> through faith;

> and that not of yourselves:

> it is the gift of God:

> Eph 2:9 Not of works,

> lest any man should boast.

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

Eph 4:7 But unto every one of us is given Grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

Rom 3:24 Being justified freely by his Grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Rom 4:4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of Grace, but of debt. (and our Salvation is by Grace!)

Rom 5:15 So also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the Grace of God, and the gift by Grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

Rom 5:17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of Grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

NOTE ASIDE:

Even Righteousness - which seems to be our effort in obeying God's Word, is also a gift of God! The great lengths God goes to in saving us by providing all things as Gifts of His goodness is beyond words to express!

Rom 11:5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of Grace.

This small 'remnant' is speaking of Earthly Jews in Romans 9, 10 and 11, but they too, like all who are saved, are saved

> > by grace

> > by election (chosen before the foundation of the world!

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

Paul's farewell message to Ephesians,

In Acts 20, Paul defines the Gospel as "The Gospel of Grace!"

Acts 20:24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the Grace of God.

Finally, we are back to where we started, with

> > God saving us (Who)

> > And called by quickening, reproving, leading to repentance and dealing the measure of faith (What means)

> > Not according to our works but His purpose (Why)

> > Which was given (gift) us in Christ Jesus (How)

> > By grace and mercy (More means)

> > Before the World began! (When)

> > All in a single verse below:

2 Tim 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and Grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

2 Tim 2:1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the GRACE that is in Christ Jesus.

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

QUESTION [5] "WHERE were you saved?

In the Heart and Mind of God - who is love - by grace and mercy, according to the purpose and good pleasure of His will, who worketh all things after the counsel of His Will, . . .in eternity past, before the foundation of the world!

Now, in this age and in this time, we are simply "working out our salvation" according to the Spirit of God within us.

CONCLUSION

All of the great factors of Ephesians are God's "seal" with which He seals us,. . .

. . . sealed unto the redemption of the glorified body!

Eph 1:13 ... In whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise,

Thus in light of all God has done for us, He commands us NOT to grieve His Holy Spirit!

Eph 4:30 And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God,

whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

QUESTION [6] "WHO" owns us as human beings?

John 10:3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth His own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.

John 10:4 And when He putteth forth His own sheep, He goeth before them, and the sheep follow Him: for they know His voice.

John 10:14 I Am the Good Shepherd, and know My sheep, and am known of Mine.

John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any pluck them out of my hand.

John 10:29 My Father, 'which gave them me', is greater than all; and no is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

We want you to especially note the last Scripture, that Father God 'gave the Sheep' to Jesus the Shepherd.

Though this is very common in Scripture, it is seldom noticed or taught on.

John 6:37 All that the Father giveth Me shall come to Me; and him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out.

John 17:1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify Thee:

John 17:2 As Thou hast given Him power over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given Him.

John 17:6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest Me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them Me;

John 17:9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given Me; for they are thine.

John 17:10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.

John 17:11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through Thine own name those whom thou hast given Me,

John 17:12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest Me I have kept, and none of them is lost,

John 17:24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given Me,

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

Look at the first of these verses we gave:

John 6:37 All that the Father giveth Me shall come to Me; and him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out.

Jesus absolutely guarantees: ALL that the Father giveth Me SHALL COME TO ME!

Where does Jesus get "His Sheep" that He owns and shepherds?

> > The Father giveth the Sheep to Jesus

> > And ALL that He giveth,

> > Shall come to Jesus.

* * What role of 'choice' and 'will' does the Sheep have in this transaction?

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

Good Friend:

It may seem like you and I played a great role in coming to the Lord Jesus Christ, and it truly does seem so from the human perspective, but completely unknown to us at the time, Our Heavenly Father was directing our Eternal salvation, calling and purpose in His Kingdom.

God literally decided for us to be born, and along with predestinating us to be written in the Lamb's Book of Life before the foundation of the world.

God also "predestinated the following:

> > [1] Our century of birth

> > [2] Our race

> > [3] Our gender

> > [4] Our nation

> > [5] City born or rural,

> > [6] Our city, Community or lack thereof

> > [7] Hot climate, desert, jungle or northern tundra

> > [8] Our grandparents and parents

> > [9] Our siblings or lack there of

> > [10] Our language

> > [11] A religious culture or pagan

> > [12] A religious family or pagan or avid atheist

> > [13] A family of dedicated true Christianity or not

> > [14] Your parents Christian Ministers or not

> > [15] Times of peace or war

> > [16] Born into wealth, poverty or middle thereof

> > [17] Born into health, sickness, deformity or average

> > [18] Born IQ gifted, deprived, or normal

> > [19] Born with an outstanding gift or normal

> > [20] Born physically unique (very tall or short)

> > [21] Born with a calling to be a major person in God's Plan

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

Let's look at the first of these verses again:

John 6:37 All that the Father giveth Me shall come to Me; and him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out.

Now let's consider an equally amazing Scripture:

John 6:44 No man can come to Me, 'except' the Father which hath sent me DRAW him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

The whole process of your quickening/awakening, reproving/convicting, leading to repentance guided by the Spirit of Truth, believing when given the measure of faith, and given from heaven for you to "receive Jesus" as Saviour . . .

. . . all of this was Father God Drawing you!

Not only was all of these means Father God drawing you to Christ the Son, but this was the process whereby Father God "GAVE YOU" to His Son the Good Shepherd, as we see so many references above.

There is more. Let us read the whole portion together:

John 6:37 All that the Father giveth Me shall come to Me;

and Him that cometh to Me I will in 'no wise' [that is for no reason in no way at no time] cast out.

John 6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the WILL of Him that sent Me. [Jesus Himself was predestined by the Father]

John 6:39 And this is the Father's WILL which hath sent Me, that of all which He hath given Me I should lose nothing,

but should raise it up again at the last day.

John 6:40 And this is the WILL of Him that sent Me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Do you see what the Father's Will is?

> > that of all which He hath given Me (Christ)

> > I (Christ) should lose nothing,

Looking at yourself and your life from God's perspective, do you see WHO you belong to and WHOSE responsibility your are?

1 Cor 6:19-20 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

1 Cor 7:23 Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

My Brother, My Sister:

These things being Eternally true, which of the following should you be "IMMUNE" to:

> > Being forsaken by God,

> > Christ losing you

> > Living a worthless life

> > Losing your mind or sanity

> > Being overcome of evil

> > Worrying about bad things happening to you

> > Worrying about the future

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

GREAT PROMISE [7] Based on God's Predestination

Do you see now why we have this great Scripture Promise?

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God,

This much we have heard quoted a thousand times. Now let's finish by looking at the rest of it.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow [and who did He foreknow?], he also did "predestinate" to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Romans 8:30 Moreover whom he did "predestinate", them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Romans 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

Romans 8:33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.

Romans 8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the Right-Hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Romans 8:36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

Romans 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.

Romans 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers,

Romans 8:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

Please note that all of the great 'Promises' above - many of which you have heard preached on and quoted a multitude of times - please see that they are ALL build upon the "predestination" of the first verse 8:29!

Being absolutely predestinated by Father God from the foundation of the world, how great ought our faith for tomorrow to be? Let us look carefully at the simplicity and "Great-Guarantee" of His Promise:

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

Basically Jesus Promises:

(1) "If" we are justified,

(2) We are as "safe" as if in Heaven already!

Read it for yourself:

Rom 8:30 Moreover whom he did "predestinate", them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and

> > whom He justified,

> > them He also glorified.

Jesus Guarantees:

(1) "IF" He has 'justified' us,

(2) He WILL 'glorify' us,

(3) He has already said, He will 'NOT LOSE' any the Father has given Him

(4) That He WILL glorify those whom He has already justified

Thus we who are saved (justified), who love God (Rom 8:28), we are as "safe" as if in Heaven already!

God is in absolute Control of all things!

Every hair of every head is numbered, the hundreds of billions of stars He calleth each by name, he weigheth the Earth and knows exactly how many grains of sand it has, and how many drops of water are in the ocean: not a sparrow falls to the ground except He ordains,

SALVATION, "IF" you are SAVED, HOW Saved? WHEN Saved? WHY Saved? Saved by WHAT? Saved by WHOM? Saved WHERE?

To God be the glory!
