There are many "Free Websites" out there, sort of like someone's broken furniture setting by the curb; it it's free, it's only good if you're in the junk business.
The free sites CAN NOT offer you what you need to "operate a website properly" because the tools cost money - not a lot, but a little.
Does your "FREE SITE" offer you "valid analysis tools" such as the following:
> > How many daily new visitors
> > How many daily repeat visitors
> > How many total daily visits
> > Monthly averages, yearly averages, comparisons to last year
> > All of your "Entry Pages", the ones people are using to enter your site?
> > All of your "Exit Pages" - those on which they are leaving your site
> > The ranking of all of your pages in number of visits per page, per day, and compared daily, monthly and yearly?
> > MUST give you the top 100 "key words" people use to find your website?
> > MUST give you the web address of every page that comes to your site, besides giving you visitors stats from Google, Yahoo, etc.
> > MUST tell you which of your pages have been visited by the "web crawlers" Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, Live!" and "Ask!"
> > MUST it tell you which of your pages have actually been "listed" by the search engines, etc.
> > MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL, it have an automatic page-analysis when your are building a page, to get several factors set up right before "building the page" - so it will be picked up by the web crawlers, Google, Yahoo, etc.
> > If you care about over-seas ministry, does it tell you the nations where your visitors come from?
Sadly, we began with a "free site" on one of the Church services with almost NONE of the tools needed, to know what was working, and what wasn't.
If you are serious about website ministry - and you should be - I beg of you as if you were my son: Don't get 50 to 100 pages into it . . . then be forced to upgrade.
Sadly, for most hosts, there's no way to simply "transfer whatever ages you have to another domain" - it's starting over time with nothing left to show for all the work but sad news! We had 140 some pages done, then had to up-grade, and it is a terrible experience - expensive and time-consuming.
Maybe your host has all you'll ever need: if so fine, but it CAN'T - if it's free.
If it's free, they are using you and your content, and "THEY KNOW" who is coming to your pages, where they are coming from, how many, etc.
Many people have to "pay writers for content" or purchase the right to carry other's writings. They have deceived you and are using you for free.
They are not telling you that your articles are valuable, and they are deceiving you by "telling you" they are "giving you space" when the truth is they are "stealing your content" as follows:
> > They are selling the info: who is reading what, from where, how many, etc.
> > They are selling goods that your writers are drawing to their site.
Wise-up, stop having a "welfare mentality" and stop wanting or expecting anything for free. It's just like your house and car: No one can "rent you a car or house for free" - no one can
