He knew him personally, attended the same Church for many years, was a neighbor, and visited in his home, even though he preferred Jefferson's Political views of government (as a Democratic-Republican, rather then Whig Philosophy of one party as Washington was).

Mason Locke Weems wrote a whole book, "The Life of George Washington" where he explains WHY George Washington was Greater than King George III, Napoleon, etc., and many others!

This book sold so many copies in so many editions that the totals cannot be evaluated, but it was the best selling Book in the USA for over 100 years! (except for the Holy Bible!)
